Bangkok Cinema Scene special: Water Drops of Life premieres on August 10

Filmmakers and artists of various backgrounds have joined together for an 11-film omnibus, Water Drops of Life, which is made in observance of the 30th anniversary of the Royal Development Centre, which has aided rural development in Thailand by improving water resources and marketing of local produce.

All the films are inspired by His Majesty the King’s projects and speeches.

Filmmakers taking part include veteran director Thanit Jitnukul, Silpathorn Award-winning performing artist Nimit Pipithkul, Fan Chan co-director Vithaya Thongyuyong and two actresses trying their hand at shooting a movie, "Kratae" Supaksorn Chaimongkol and Napakpapha "Mamee" Nakprasit.

Here is the list of shorts and directors:

  • Kiew Ratsadorn Tem Khun (Mr Kiew, A Proud Citizen), Thanit Jitnukul
  • Ruang Nai Jai (In My Mind), Nimit Piptthkul
  • Hope, Pisuth Praesangeiam
  • The Picture, Vitidnan Rojanapanich
  • Chang Phab (A Photographer). Vithaya Thongyuyong
  • I Am Pod, Amnard Thangsomboon
  • Phab Thee Tangkan (Different Route), Supaksorn Chaimongkol
  • Ending & Start, Sukho Wesalee
  • Khaki, Sinut Kamukamakul
  • Role Model. Chinawat Tangsuthijit
  • Satha (Faith), Napakpapha Nakprasit

The short-film project is organized by the Royal Initiative Discovery campaign and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau. The 11 shorts will premiere on August 10 at Grand EGV Siam Discovery at 2pm. Admission is free.

Water Drops of Life will be shown for free at Paragon Cineplex, Esplanade Cineplex, Major Ratchayothin and EGV Pinklao from August 27 to September 2, Monday to Friday at 7 and on weekends at 5. Call (02) 934 6730 or (083) 228 6739.
