Filmmaker Magazine has the latest in the saga of Syndromes and a Century, Apichatpong Weerasethakul's latest feature film, which was censored and banned in Thailand after it had been screened to universal acclaim at film festivals and commercial runs around the world. The film was originally set to be released nearly a year ago in a limited run in Bangkok, but the screenings were canceled by the direc....

Twenty years since the last Rambo film, not much has changed with the newest installment, Rambo 4. The hero, Sylvester Stallone's Vietnam War veteran John Rambo, is still embittered and cynically stoical. And he still wants to be left alone.Where better than to live out a life of isolation than Thailand? It's along the Thai-Burmese border on the Salween River where the ex-Special Forces soldier is wo....

Sylvester Stallone's unstoppable killing machine John Rambo takes on the Burmese junta as he shoots, hacks and strangles his way through the jungles along the Thai border. The big question is whether this film is censored. It's not in the distributors' or the cinemas' interests to be forthcoming with this information, so I simply don't know. Since the Culture Ministry's pixellation of blood-letting of....

It's funny. It's cute. It's English subtitled. And, it's censored. The DVD of last year's sleeper-hit romantic-comedy Me ... Myself is already hitting the bargain bins in Thailand, a move no doubt hastened by the fact that the DVD is published by Rose Media and Entertainment, the only Thai distributor I know of that self-censors its films.Me ... Myself is the story of a gay transvestite cabaret dancer....

The Deauville Asian Film Festival runs from March 12 to 16, and it features two Thai films in its main features competition: Aditya Assarat's ubiquitious Wonderful Town (seems like it is playing everywhere but Thailand) and Pen-ek Ratanaruang's Ploy (when's the uncensored, English-friendly version coming to DVD?).A third film, the karmic action drama Opapatika, is featured in the Asia Action Competit....

The fourth film in the Rambo series went through many title changes before it debuted, and is known by various names around the world. In Thailand, it has been advertised as Rambo 4 and as Rambo: To Hell and Back. I think before it opens on Thursday it will be called Rambo 4. Or maybe Rambo: To Hell and Back.In the States it was simply Rambo. In Europe it was more formal, called John Rambo. In Spanish....

I went to eat noodles with my girlfriend after seeing the The Mist, and I was just staring at the bowl of noodles, not knowing what to do next. It took my girlfriend to ask me what was wrong before I snapped out of it.What a depressing movie. So bleak. I can't remember the last time I was just so seriously bummed after seeing a movie, and I watch a lot of bleak, depressing movies. The mist is all arou....
