Forgot to mention another film opening this week in my earlier roundup. It's The Bridge, a documentary about why suicide victims are drawn to San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. After just one week of screening once a day at the Lido in Siam Square, indie director Santi Taepanich's Bangkok Time has already left the cinema.Seems Santi had personally rented a digital projector so his film could be shown at the Lido, which lacks the equipment. The film's premature close is simply because he couldn't afford to keep hiring the projector. There are other cinemas in Bangkok, Cinema ....

As I noted in my weekly Bangkok Cinema Scene roundup, Ang Lee's erotic spy thriller, Lust, Caution is in limited release.Something I've just learned is that particularly on the limited releases, sometimes the cinemas will make the cuts on films themselves and then submit those prints to the Thailand Board of Censors. So with Lust, Caution, there are three different versions in Thailand. Here's how th....

The biggest release in Bangkok this week is a Thai film, The Love of Siam, a solidly dramatic but sweet story that mixes dysfunctional family heartbreak with the puppy love first romance between two friends. The boys, Witwisit Hirunwongkul and Mario Maurer, perform very well, but commanding attention are a couple of the women in the cast, Sinjai Plengpanich as a concerned mother, and "Ploy&quo....
