Missed Mitr

Mitr Chaibancha was Thailand's reigning action film hero from the late 1950s until he died in 1970, in a fall from a rope ladder on a helicopter, while filming a stunt for the film, Insee Tong.

He was in hundreds of film, though I've only seen a couple - Insee Tong, which is on DVD with English subs (miraculously), available in local DVD shops, and 1965's Ngern Ngern Ngern, which the Thai Film Foundation has on subtitled DVD.

Apparently, I missed a big Mitr fest over the weekend. But, I'm informed it goes on every year. So maybe next year? Somebody let me know, okay?

He is my mom favorite star also. She used to say about him and his life’s last minute on helicopter. The film he played was classic. I like it.
