Bangkok Cinema Scene special: 12th Thai Short Film & Video Festival opening weekend preview

Unless the anti-government protesters blockade the Pathumwan Intersection, the 12th Thai Short Film & Video Festival -- the biggest yet -- opens on Friday as the first film event for the new Bangkok Art & Culture Centre. Admission is free, though you'll need a ticket. They'll be made available at the auditorium on the fifth floor an hour before the show.The opening program starts at 6.30pm. T....

Sad news ahead of this week's opening of Love of Siam actor Mario Maurer's new movie Friendship: His father has died.Roland Maurer, a 70-year-old German exporter, had been battling diabetes for some time. He died on Friday morning in a hospital in Nakhon Nayok Province. He is survived by Mario, 19, Mario's older brother Marco, 24, and Chinese-Thai wife Warunya.Bangkok of the Mind and Lyn’s Lakorn Blo....
