Dalmasian, I am trying to find your question but I found non. These are just a bunch of complaints, and I am not in the authority to comment on Khun Sutichai Yoon, so maybe you'd like to post on his blog instead.

I am sorry you don't find the media to be giving enough information you like, but I am sure there are quality reporters at The Nation and else where who is doing their best to give the best info to the public.
See, one person can not change the world. You need a whole lot of people to come together and make the world better.

Windy, where are you? Since you are a staff of the Nation, I have a couple of questions to ask you and I hope you can answer them truthfully and completely.
Even though the Nation is often considered a "pretty good" English language newspaper here in Thailand, it still leaves a lot to be desired as a truly good newspaper in terms of the following:
1. Quantity of news coverage, both domestic and international. On the domestic side, the Nation has definitely cut off many news that are true but critical of Toxin in the last few years. Khun Sutichai Yoon used to be a brave maverick in terms of covering controvertial news items, but not anymore. He has now become one of the invisible news editors that has blended into the also runs, and he has certainly lost his "outstanding" quality. My wife used to tune in to the Nation TV station all the time in the past, now she only listens to ASTV and related stations' news broadcasts. She said all the other stations just broadcast a lot of garbage and government or Toxin propagandas. ITV (or TITV) and Channel 3 were the worst offenders, and the others were not far behind. I can understand 60 to 70 percent of the Thai language and I fully agree with her.
2. Quality of news coverage, in terms of completeness of coverage, depth of coverage, interpretation and amplification of news covered, periodic follow-up of important news stories covered, appropriate titles of news articles, and grammar and spelling.
The Bangkok Post was a venerable English language newspaper here but its reputation and usefulness have fallen by the wayside. It is definitely several notches below its sister publication (or is it it's parent publication?) the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong. The Nation is like AVIS ("We Try Harder") when compared to HERTZ, but it has a long, long way to go. Your readers will not wait forever for you to grow up.

You do not need to be so concerned, Windy. You are still young and not very experienced. I have been visiting and sometime living in Thailand since the early 1970s and I have seen a lot, in fact too much, shenanigans that have been going on in this country. I personally have nothing against Buddhism as a Teaching (not a religion, because it is not a religion in the strictest sense of the word). But i do have a very strong negative feeling towards most Thai politicians and government officials after all that I have seen over the past decades.
If the country calls itself a "Buddhist country," one would expect that the majority of the people whouls be Buddhists and would follow Buddhist teachings. This is certainly not the case with most Thai politicians and government officials. They are doing exactly the opposite of what Buddhism teaches. Therefore, I was being very sarcastic in my first message here.
Also, forget about "Abang." He is not a Buddhist and he is a person of absolutely no character and no moral. Just see what he had to say today about his contact with Toxin. He has done this a number of times n different occasions and his words cannot be trusted. Also, never trust a person who has 4 or more wives. I wonder how would he feel if all of his "wives" have 4 or more husbands!

sorry, about me laughing at the end..has nothing to do with the news. I take every news very seriously. It was the uncut version. (wouldn't have added this if Dalmasian didn't make such a horrible statement)
sorry admin

Dalmasian, what part of this news upset you so much that you have to insult Buddhism and Thailand at the same time? It's a pretty harsh and unreasonable comment to be made, especially if you are talking about politics. Politics, Buddhism, and the nation has nothing interrelated, so if you don't put this straight, then whatever you say makes no sense at all.

I saw morality thrown out the window with the baby in the wash water right here Thailand a long, long time ago! What a Buddhist country! Now I understand what Buddhism stands for -- no character, no shame, no moral, no nothing!
