Thaksin battles with cancer

September 8, 2009

Thaksin Shinawatra's health is deteriorating following his chemotherapy treatment for prostate cancer.

 Recently, a team of doctors from Rama IX Hospital went to Koh Kong to treat Thaksin with chemotherapy for his prostate cancer. There were reports that he was not feeling fine with the treatment. In the previous treatment, the Rama IX Hospital doctors went to Dubai to treat Thaksin's cancer.

However, Thaksin has continued to keep his political hope alive. He is busier with his twitter.

Today, he said he could wait to talk to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva as Abhisit seemed to have many problems to deal with.

Thaksin said in his twitter; ThaksinLive, that he sympathised with Khun Abhisit who he said was busy solving many obstacles.

"I can wait to talk to Khun Abhisit as he is now busy with many problems," Thaksin tweeted.

He was responding to twitter interview between Abhisit and Nation Group's editor in chief Suthichai Yoon on Tuesday night.

When asked by Suthichai to confirm whether he would not hold any talk with Thaksin if the former prime minister would not return to serve his jail term first, Abhisit replied: "I want everybody to respect the laws".

"You wouldn't answer my question," Suthichai asked back. "Read my answer well and you will find the answer," Abhisit replied. Asked again by Suthichai to confirm his interpretation, Abhist said: "probably yes."

As to the subject, many more people other than Thanong, and even a credible person from the puea thai party, have come out confirm the cancer and that a 5-member team of cancer specialist have been flying to Dubai to treat thaksin's cancer. For the good of the country; I hope it's in the latter stages. He's looking rather pale and to have lost some weight.

It should be noted that every time the team goes of to Dubai; their patients' visits have to be cancelled and postponed. But what can the doctors do; thaksin owns Rama 9 hospital.

Once thaksin said “there will be no “poor people คนจน” within 6 years, there are millions of poor people during his 6 yrs plutocratic regime.

Panya: Good point. Let me say why Thai people are so interested-some would say obsessed-in Thaksin's cancer (which farangs don't understand), as can be seen in KhunThanong's posting achieving top popularity. There is this Thai belief in the idea that if you do good you receive good things and vice versa. And people who are confused about a person or a situation and don't know what to make of him or the situation would rely on this karma idea, meaning let supreme auspicious beings or dieties make the judgement for us mortals.

There is no 100% correlation but it seems to work, as the case of PM Samak shows, and maybe also some other politicians whose acts damaged the collective greatly such that a stint in jail or other penalties are not enough.

Those who believe in such law of life tend either to be those who see that there are things which science cannot capture, or moral people.

It is a very worthy belief for people with a tendency to do bad things and are confident that he can get away with it. Cancer exists as the ultimate form of punishment and deterence for bad politicians.

Stal C185

Remember that chicken disease outbreak during the fugitive's term as PM? When the rumours of an outbreak reached the press, he told reporters there was no such cases in Thailand. The next day it was confirmed that there were, and that he had known there were.

He also said he was finished with politics for good. And that he was a tamed dog!

As a person who is obviously greatly in denial about himself ("I have never done anything wrong"), he would not seek to disseminate the truth about his condition. Who would?

The fugitive will say anything to reach his objective. If it involves lies, no matter. When the lie would be too blatant, he tells half the story, omitting the facts that he wishes to obscure.

Leopards don't change their spots. Let's see if there is a court case, and the outcome if there is.

Back to the subject: Thaksin has denied that he has the cancer. Do you all believe him. Today a Democrat Party spokesman insisted that he indeed has cancer, thereby in effect challenging Thaksin to sue him in court.

Prosecutor takes on Potjaman in civil suit
Published: 19/09/2009 at 12:00 AM
Newspaper section: NewsA public prosecutor yesterday filed a civil suit against Potjaman na Pombejra, former wife of deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, on behalf of the Bank of Thailand's Financial Institutions Development Fund.

The public prosecutor, Phasin Thipphayarak, filed the case with the Civil Court, asking it to nullify the fund's sale of four land plots, or 33 rai worth 772 million baht, to Khunying Potjaman and to order her to return the ownership of the plots to the fund.

FIDF sold the land to Khunying Potjaman after she won an uncontested bid in December 2003.

The prosecutor claimed the land deal was nullified after the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions convicted Thaksin of violating Article 100 of the National Anti-Corruption Act, which forbids politicians and their spouses from business deals with state agencies, last October.

Thaksin and Khunying Potjaman were still married when the land deal was sealed. The former prime minister was accused of using his position to help Khunying Potjaman buy the land at a discounted price.

decietful steven c171; you make me sick. Don't try to slime you way out of being the immoral person you are.

Since you thaksin lovers like to commemorate anniversaries - why didn't you also celebrate yesterday as being the day that thaksin security apparatuses muredered 85 'innocent until proven guilty' muslims in Tak Bai.

Didn't you say that the deaths of the few is for the greater good? I didn't see you remembering the kick-off of the war on drugs that saw many innocents killed also for the greater good.

Wait until October 7th then you can commemorate the deaths of maiming of scores of protestors to allow somchai to give his ever -soimportant policy speech to parliament then run with his tail between his legs over the wall.

You make me sick deceitful steven.

"fidf (financial institutions development fund) to sue potjaman over land"

OAG says contract void but she clings to deeds
Writer: POST REPORTERS
Published: 18/09/2009 at 12:00 AM
Newspaper section: NewsThe Bank of Thailand's Financial Institutions Development Fund will file a civil lawsuit against Khunying Potjaman na Pombejra, the former wife of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, demanding she return 33 rai of Ratchadaphisek land.

Khunying Potjaman na Pombejra, the former wife of deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, hugs her daughter Pinthongta Shinawatra after Ms Pinthongta appeared before the Supreme Court yesterday to defend herself against charges in connection with the Shin Corp shares transfer. APICHART JINAKUL
The move comes as the one-year statute of limitations to recover the land expires on Oct21. Thaksin was convicted over the land sale on Oct 21 last year.

Lawyers for Khunying Potjaman, who has now adopted her mother's maiden name, insist they will fight the case.

Bank of Thailand governor Tarisa Watanagase, who chairs the FIDF, said a lawsuit will be lodged to reclaim the 33-rai plot from Khunying Potjaman as directed by the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG).

FIDF sold the plot to Khunying Potjaman for 772 million baht in 2006.

FIDF manager Thong-urai Limpiti said the fund had sent a letter of demand to Khunying Potjaman after the OAG had advised the land purchase contract between the two parties had been nullified. She was asked to return the land deeds but refused to do so.

A source at the central bank said the FIDF offered to return the 772 million baht she had paid for the land in return for the deeds.

The OAG has advised the fund that its deal with Khunying Potjaman was invalid as the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions had convicted Thaksin of abusing his power while he was prime minister to help his wife purchase the Ratchadaphisek land at a discount.

Khunying Potjaman refused the offer, saying she had lost the opportunity to earn interest from the 772 million baht that she paid for the land which she was unable to develop for several years, the source said.

Instead, Khunying Potjaman countered with a demand that the FIDF return the 772 million baht plus the interest it would have earned - a total of 800 million baht.

Consequently, the FIDF board decided it had no choice but to file a lawsuit against her, the source said.

Waiwut Lortrakool, the deputy attorney-general, said the OAG would file the civil suit against Khunying Potjaman before the case expires.

Lawyer Pichit Chuenban said the Shinawatra family legal team had told the FIDF the land deal was not invalid as Khunying Potjaman and Thaksin had done everything according to the law.

Mr Pichit said the lawyers were confident in the evidence they had prepared for their client.

Meanwhile, Khunying Potjaman's daughter, Pinthongta Shinawatra, yesterday testified before the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions to fight against the attempt to seize the Shinawatra family's 76 billion baht in assets acquired mainly from the Shin Corp share sale to Singapore-based Temasek Holdings. A public prosecutor claimed the assets were acquired illegally by Thaksin while he was the prime minister from 2001 to 2006.

Ms Pinthongta told the court about the sources of her family's assets including a diamond mine in Africa. She insisted her family members legally earned all of the assets.

She denied reports Thaksin had assets worth about 100 billion baht in Britain, saying her father only owned an apartment worth about 70 million baht in London."

The shahada (testimony) succinctly states the central belief of Islam: "There is no god but God (Allah), and Muhammad is his Prophet." This simple profession of faith is repeated on many ritual occasions, and recital in full and unquestioning sincerity designates one a Muslim. The God preached by Muhammad was not a new deity; Allah is the Arabic term for God rather than a particular name. Muhammad denied the existence of the many minor gods and spirits worshiped before his prophecy, and he declared the omnipotence of the unique creator, God. Islam means submission to God, and one who submits is a Muslim. Being a Muslim also involves a commitment to realize the will of God on earth and to obey God's law.

Muhammad is the "seal of the Prophets"; his revelation is said to complete for all time the series of biblical revelations received by Jews and Christians. Muslims believe God to have remained one and the same throughout time, but that men strayed from his true teaching until set right by Muhammad. Prophets and sages of the biblical tradition, such as Abraham (Ibrahim), Moses (Musa), and Jesus (Isa), are recognized as inspired vehicles of God's will. Islam, however, reveres as sacred only the message, rejecting Christianity's deification of the messenger. It accepts the concepts of guardian angels, the Day of Judgment, general resurrection, heaven and hell, and eternal life of the soul.

The duties of the Muslim - corporate acts of worship - form the five pillars of Islamic faith. These are shahada, affirmation of the faith; salat, daily prayer; zakat, almsgiving; sawm, fasting during the month of Ramadan; and hajj, pilgrimage to Mecca. These acts of worship must be performed with a conscious intent and not out of habit. Shahada is uttered daily by practicing Muslims, affirming their membership in the faith and expressing an acceptance of the monotheism of Islam and the divinity of Muhammad's message.

The believer is to pray in a prescribed manner after purification through ritual ablutions at dawn, midday, midafternoon, sunset, and nightfall. Prescribed genuflections and prostrations accompany the prayers, which the worshiper recites facing toward Mecca. Prayers imbue daily life with worship, and structure the day around an Islamic conception of time. Whenever possible, men pray in congregation at the mosque under a prayer leader and on Fridays they are obliged to do so. Women also may attend public worship at the mosque, where they are segregated from the men, although most frequently women pray at home. A special functionary, the muezzin, intones a call to prayer to the entire community at the appropriate hours; those out of earshot determine the proper time from the position of the sun.

In the early days of Islam, the authorities imposed a tax on personal property proportionate to one's wealth; this was distributed to the mosques and to the needy. In addition, free-will gifts were made. While still a duty of the believer, almsgiving in the twentieth century has become a more private matter. Properties contributed by pious individuals to support religious activities are usually administered as religious foundations, or waqfs.

The ninth month of the Muslim calendar is Ramadan, a period of obligatory fasting that commemorates Muhammad's receipt of God's revelation, the Quran. Fasting is an act of self-discipline that leads to piety and expresses submission and commitment to God. Fasting underscores the equality of all Muslims, strengthening sentiments of community. During this month all but the sick, weak, pregnant or nursing women, soldiers on duty, travelers on necessary journeys, and young children are enjoined from eating, drinking, smoking, or sexual intercourse during the daylight hours. Official work hours often are shortened during this period, and some businesses close for all or part of the day. Since the months of the lunar calendar revolve through the solar years, Ramadan falls at various seasons in different years. A fast in summertime imposes considerable hardship on those who must do physical work. Each day's fast ends with a signal that light is insufficient to distinguish a black thread from a white one. Id al Fitr, a threeday feast and holiday, ends the month of Ramadan and is the occasion of much visiting.

Finally, Muslims at least once in their lifetime should, if possible, make the hajj to the holy city of Mecca to participate in special rites held during the twelfth month of the lunar calendar. The Prophet instituted this requirement, modifying pre-Islamic custom to emphasize sites associated with Allah and Abraham, father of the Arabs through his son Ishmael (Ismail). The pilgrim, dressed in a white, seamless garment (ihram), abstains from sexual relations, shaving, haircutting, and nail paring. Highlights of the pilgrimage include kissing the sacred black stone; circumambulation of the Kaaba, the sacred structure reputedly built by Abraham that houses the stone; running seven times between the mountains Safa and Marwa in imitation of Hagar, Ishmael's mother, during her travail in the desert; and standing in prayer on Mount Arafat. These rites affirm the Muslim's obedience to God and express intent to renounce the past and begin a new righteous life in the path of God. The returning male pilgrim is entitled to the honorific "hajj" before his name and a woman the honorific "hajji." Id al Adha marks the end of the hajj month.

The permanent struggle for the triumph of the word of God on earth, jihad, represents an additional general duty of all Muslims. This concept is often taken to mean holy war, but most Muslims see it in a broader context of civil and personal action. Besides regulating relations between the human being and God, Islam regulates the relations of one human being to another. Aside from specific duties, Islam imposes a code of ethical conduct encouraging generosity, fairness, honesty, and respect and explicitly propounds guidance as to what constitutes proper family relations. In addition, it forbids adultery, gambling, usury, and the consumption of carrion, blood, pork, and alcohol.

A Muslim stands in a personal relationship to God; there is neither intermediary nor clergy in orthodox Islam. Those men who lead prayers, preach sermons, and interpret the law do so by virtue of their superior knowledge and scholarship rather than because of any special powers or prerogatives conferred by ordination. Any adult male versed in prayer form is entitled to lead prayers - a role referred to as imam.

170, Cancer is an uncontrolled growth. It certainly did not start from Thaksin but at a point much earlier. From where I am sure many knows.
At the point of Thaksin the growth was starting to subside until it reared its ugly head again in 2006. Yes this head must be destroyed before it destroy the country again.

But then we will be accused of immorality or extra judicial killing for the greater good of the people and country. You see, Chemotherapy kills both the bad and good...!!!!!......

I would ask that you leave me alone to do as I want with stevie and hermione. I still make my comments to the topic but aren't I allowed to make comments to inanities; or is it the same old same old Ean, who can make commnets towards other bloggers. Recall that you didn't make any such remark on maxwell's blog when he tried to make personal attacks instead of contributing to the dialogue. Stevie attacks but he is overlooked.

Recall Ean that it was your defence with regard to my comments to stevie a couple of months ago that got me pissed at you and which caused our present condition towards one another. Can't you please just mind your own business when I am talking to stevie?

Freedom of speech come with responsibility and respect for the law and regulation within the area that you are subjected to. Just as in this blog your freedom of speech should be within the topic concerned.

The current turbulent political situation is due to the irresponsibility of those who cried in the name of freedom by supporting the coup and destroying the democratic rights of an elected government such as Thaksin.

Responsible Freedom means respect for the law and Constitution. Before Frankie, ND, PAD, Yellow shirts and other talk of freedom of speech AND ACTION, have you ask yourself this simple question.

```When I supported the military coup and PAD / yellow shirt action, IS MY FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION & ACTION A RESPONSIBLE ONE ….```
Deceitful steven you make me sick. Willful fools such as steven(sin) have a reduced sense of morality and justice. That he and his pack can divide the dead into innocent deaths and rightfully punished and say that it is good. And with unassailable conviction state that the few (thousands) deaths is for the greater good. With such conviction the plunging of knives proved so very easy.
Where is their justice; those innocents hung on their crosses, uncomprehending of their crimes? They committed no crimes but their murderers walk free. Where is their justice?
A convicted criminal in flight can ask of his supporters to disturb HMK, against protocol, for a Royal pardon living in his 5/6 star hotels, flying in his private jet, giving ‘surprises’ by gimmicky holograms and causing continued divisiveness. He is able to ask for fairness and justice for his crimes.
And where is the justice and fairness for those thousands killed extra-judiciously for no crime but to want to live their meager lives in peace and safety?
From the sublime blogger, 'Just-1-Voice-2
-------------------------------------------------
The way I see it, there are two distinct issues here. The first being whether or not Thaksin has cancer, and the second being Thanong himself. with the latter issue being the most important one.
Thanong has made statements concerning the health of Thaksin, but quotes no sources or cites any references to back up his claims. It is my understanding that he is a "professional journalist" and not a doctor, nor does he sit on the board of any of the hospitals or medical facilities he has mentioned in his article, which leads one to wonder and question where his information comes from, as Thaksin himself has been quoted as saying he does not have cancer and is in very good health.
If Thanong has irrefutable evidence, such as medical reports and/or statements from doctors, fine. If not, then his comments are mere speculation and innuendo, which I find somewhat ironic. Despite his claims of just being a blogger, as a professional journalist I am assuming he is aware of the laws in regards to slander, liable and defamation of character, and should be aware of the Computer Law Acts which prohibit "dissemination of false information", which could land him in jail, regardless of his "status" as merely a "blogger". The law clearly states that anyone who deliberately disseminates false information can be held liable. There's no stipulations about that person having to be a "professional journalist", which means the law would apply to me, everyone reading this, and Thanong himself.
My comment to Khun Thanong is this: If you have verifiable information or evidence to support your blog comments, then make them known as well. If you do not, and are merely speculating on what may or may not be a rumor, you really should find another line of work, as Thai society already has more than enough people who spread lies, rumors and innuendos in order to enhance their own positions, as well as further divide the people and they don't need yet another one. Perhaps you should apply for a position in the PR Department of the Democratic, as you might fit in well there.
You are joking, aren't you??? The parents brought the kid with them, delivering drugs. The father was caught with 6000 Yaa Baa tablets, and the mother fled the scene with the kid on the backseat.
The only sad thing about the story, and the loss of the kid's life, is that the Police officers were let off the charges of using excessive force during an arrest. (Considering the 80% sun protection film that you find on most cars, you can hardly expect the officers to see a kid on the backseat, but that does not justify using gunfire to stop a getaway car)
The boy mentioned in my #c 135 was not a Nazi, nor was he an instigater of world wars. He wasn't a drug Lord, nor was he a drug runner.
He was simply a nine year old Thai boy in a car with his Mother in Thailand when they came, Thai police, on the orders of the tyrant Shinawatra with their guns blazing and ended his young life for no reason at all. They didn't even know who he was.
This act alone would have earned Shinawatra the reputation of being " a human rights abuser of the worst kind". Sadly, another 2,500 poor souls faced the same fate, gunned down without trial during this dark period in Thai history.
It was not a war. It was a crusade conducted by the police supported by Thaksin against selected suspects with no trial and no accountability. It is globally accepted as being a gross violation of human rights.
World War 2 was 70 years ago. Who says it was justified? The perpetrators. What they did then cannot validate human rights abuses in this millenium.
Like I said in any war there are always some collateral damage which is unavoidable. We have to think in the greater context not just narrow minded. Eg: Bombing Hamburg, Nagasaki and Hiroshima flat ended the war quicker thereby saving several more millions lives than than the ten of thousand that died in these bombing.
It’s not just about the interest in Thaksin. It’s about the way the democratic rights of the people have been taken away. Its about how the rights and welfare of the poor have been denied and taken away though influence of certain powerful people such as the elite, royalist and military.
Correct facts and information are necessary on whether human right has been abused by Thaksin. Drug dealers in the north of Thailand and Burma are not just drug courier. They have an army armed with some of the latest weapons. An operation against them would require a large amount of personnel, weapons and efforts. The operation was approved and adopted by the cabinet at that time. During that time Thailand has more than 3 millions drug addicts and for the greater good of the people and country this operation is necessary. Against the greater good of the 6 millions suffering drug addicts and their families we should not publicize or babble so much on some collateral damage done.
It is also concluded that Thaksin and the Cabinet, the army and police personnel has acted according to the law, use sound judgement and done the best given the circumstances.
Frankie should use his head and think of the millions instead of uttering meaningless and unintelligent comments.
Don't forget we are in the middle of a political war here, in effect declared by Thaksin just this past April, when he goaded his red shirt warriers on through his video links to make a final decisive attack on the government.
His backtracking later on in international media was unconvincing--probably even to himself as he stuttered along during interviews by seasoned jounalists who asked him a barrage of point blank questions as to whether he was behind the attempted uprising.
In past conflicts all political and military contenders have tried to conceal their weaknesses and illnesses for obvious reasons.
Also, Dalmasian, on Rama 9 doctors did they themselves leaked out the info?
So, he has the p. cancer, but it's not life threatening if intervened by good doctors ? Why does he look rather healthy in the pics. Of course, it could be just enlargement of prostate glands, normal for older people, but the cancer rumour is spread deliberately for political purposes. In sum, need more evidence, even circumstantial. For example, were the doctors flown in to Dubai with prostate cancer equipment? And the treatment I would have thought has to be done regularly.
ND,
You and your family rather pay your dues in another country than your homeland. Your father should have come home and treat more of the Thais than Americans. America with one doctor less would not make much difference but in Thailand it is very much needed as there is virtually no doctor and health care during those days. You and your families instead chose to enrich yourselves in America rather than providing the much needed health care that Thailand needed. Because Thailand is poor and you could not make money.
Where are you and your families debt of gratitude for the country (Thailand) !!!!!
Under the guise of Jekyll and Hyde, you returned back and tried to act as the saviour with your bullshitting and lies. You supported terrorist and lawless group such as PAD and the yellow shirt, military and royalist that have created much turbulence and divisiveness among the rural poor and rich. catch, com'on it's a play on words. And I don't know whether even in a 'prostrate' would help out limpness. We can see that thaksin is now all talk but can't get any action.
br, FYI, my family and I have paid every single tax imaginable as well as Income tax, in whichever State we lived in. We were what you would call ‘white collar’ residents. I’m still paying real estate taxes on my house in the Bay Area. My father was a doctor; he treated Americans of all colors and worked in a very prestigious hospital in the City. We paid our dues to live in your beautiful country. Those taxes paid for my tit sucking in public school. Those tits were of many colors, I didn't just focus on white tits, because America being the melting pot of the world, I enjoy lots of tits.
To help out the U.S. economy, I then went to a 'private boarding school'. A boarding school that now has close to a 100 year legacy of Thai students. Many well-known Thais have attended this school, many own businesses here and are in the Forbes list of billionaires; and in each and every government, there will be at least one (1) alumnus as a government minister. This present government sees two ministers and many members of parliament. I am presently the secretary general of the alumni association in Thailand.
I never had to do any 'compulsory service' in Thailand since I lived and was in University in the States. And I was not drafted nor did I avoid the draft, into the armed service of the U.S.; although my brother voluntarily joined the airforce during the Vietnam War. I was neither a ‘wetback’ nor 'robin hood' in the U.S.
Anything else you want to know? Care to find other faults? Imagined or fictional? But I still wonder why you are keep referring and wanting to place me in Chicago? Never been there, just a couple of flight connections at O'Hare.
How about you, anything interesting highlights of your past that you want to share?
nd,
I am extremely confident that somebody like you, who professes the utmost loyalty to the Kingdom of Thailand and the Monarchy, chose to leave his adopted country(the USA) and return to Thailand in 1972 to do your "compulsory service". Or did you choose to join your adopted country's military voluntarily? Me thinks neither. You stayed in Chicago, NYC or Boston(all places you claimed to have lived) and sucked off from educational handouts while avoiding anything as challenging as being loyal to either your home country or adopted country.......and then have the balls to denigrate me for doing so.
Keep waving your "Loyalty" flag here. Most of us have your number anyway.
Coming back to the topic, does it matter whether Thaksin or Samak has cancer or not. Does it take pleasure for the nation columnist to highlight such small matter that could cause divisiveness for the people and country. They should have been more responsible if they have highlighted his loyalty ( which he has confessed time and again),his achievements and the plans that he has for the people and country. This would be more beneficial for the people and country.
It is morally right and virtuous when one shows our love and respect to HMK the fatherly figure and the CONSTITUTION. Only then would there be unity and less divisiveness among the people. Likewise when we go against the Constitution it is also like disrespecting HMK, who is above politics and guardian of the Constitution.
The 1997 Constitution which was the people’s Constitution was drafted, supported and endorsed by various segment of the people and HMK the beloved King. It was abrogated, destroyed and replaced with a new one supported by the royalist, elite and military in the 2006 coup. By their action they have in fact shown disrespect and contempt of HMK and caused much divisiveness amongst the people who have loved and respected HMK and the Constitution of which he is the guardian.
It does matter whether you are red or yellow, thaksin or abhisit, pheu thai or democrat, the most important part of our lives and action should be to RESPECT HMK & THE CONSTITUTION otherwise you would have failed as a Thai.
In this respect not disappointed, the royalist, elite and the military have FAILED miserably.
Most of the nation’s people showed their love and respect to HMK, our father figure (no not Ian!). HMK is truly the glue that binds the country and her people together. When I said ‘most’, it means that you can exclude the puea thai party members, the red’s leaders and a portion of reds themselves, jakrapop, pj, maxwell, and 55; their only loyalty is to thaksin the junrai.
The police chief was ordered transferred but resigned instead! Wonder what this means for AV and his choice of the new police chief?
True to form, a puea thai party member showed his true class by beating up on a detractor on TV no less(!) and is now charged with assault and battery. The party spokesman said it’s a personal affair. What can we say about those who are connected to and associated with the serial liar? All thuggish in character and prone to violence.
The EC has adjudged that 16 MPs/cabinet ministers are to be banned for holding shares in ‘connected’ companies. Of those 16; eight are from the puea thai party! That means eight less trouble makers in parliament especially with sunai gone there’ll be no support for chalerm and jatuporn diatribes and rants in parliament. Elections will have to be held for these and the previous MPs adjudged, after the final judgment of the Constitutional Court.
And AV is still here.
And coming back to the topic of the blog’ I always said that thaksin was cancerous to the Kingdom; a cancer that must be excised. Karma, when reality catches up this sinner.
This is the first I've heard of Thaksin having cancer. I can't say that it excites me a lot either way, although if he did, it's something I would have expected him to play up a bit for the sympathy vote of a sick man being unfairly picked on. Why keep it secret?
Ordinary and rich people go to the hospital for chemotherapy. For influential people, doctors may go to them. A chemo treatment is simple and requires no special equipment. In the case with my mother-in-law, she needed to go once a week for 8 consecutive weeks. In each session, a 300cc (?) square bottle of solution was fed intravenously. For my mother-in-law's case, each session cost about 45k.
regarding medical treatment, the hospital and country of choice depends upon the nature of the problem. If I wanted a full sex change I would definitely choose Bangkok, for eyes and corneal grafts, Hong Kong or Malaysia, for respiratory problems Switzerland, for prosthetics Japan and the UK. Thugsin is persona-non-grata in the USA, Canada, UK, Germany and many other countries, including China. Even President Aroyo of the Philippines avoided him last time he requested for an informal meeting "over a cup of coffee." If he sets foot in the USA and Canada he may well be arrested immediately and repatriated to Thailand. He would not dare to visit those countries at this point in time. His "sphere of activities" is now restricted to the banana republics of Latin America, the economically and politically backward African countries and some of the most underdeveloped Asian countries.
Rama 9 Hospital is one of several private hospitals where Thugsin is a major shareholder. That hospital has quite a few well-known medical specialists and practitioners, with excellent educational background both in Thailand and overseas and many years of professional practice under their belts. There is no reason to doubt their professional qualifications and experience. To do so will only be looking down on the medical profession in Thailand. Thai doctors are as good as, if not better than, those in Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, the Philippines and India, for example as long as the facilities and equipment they work with are up-to-date.
Khun Thanong has written the truth about Thugsin's medical conditions. In fact I already knew about this at least 3 to 4 months ago. I overheard people talking about it at Rama 9 Hospital during one of my periodic check-ups there by my cardiologist. I also heard the same news from some of our friends as well as from ASTV. This is definitely not a rumor as the news came from many sources.
The prognosis for prostate cancer is not bad if it was discovered early. Unfortunately, there are few visible symptoms of prostate cancer and in many cases by the time it is confirmed the cancer may have spread and may already be in a rather advanced stage. If that is the case, the patient may not have many more months to live.
The forecast by a well-known Thai fortune teller that "someone famous or infamous and important" will pass away later this year may yet prove to be correct. We shall have to wait and see since we cannot "see" the future.
There is an obvious flaw in the logic of this rumour. Put on one side the professional ethics of confidentiality, rather just look at the money aspects.
If I were Thaksin and hired a team of specialists to treat my cancer, I would pay them well. If I then found that they had leaked information about my condition to the media. I would get rid of them, knowing this would any money hungry medical specialist open his mouth?
This is where this rumour breaks down, those who could truly reveal this information are those most unlikely to do so, both for ethical and financial reasons.
Are you saying Thanong (c39), that you as journalist when blogging feel more free to disregard normal journalistic principles, such as to found your writings and assertions on reliable and quotable sources? And that bloggers in general can feel free to write whatever fictional or gossip stories they want on actual events? Wow that came as a surprise!
And as of yet you have not substantiated this story of yours is more than that of gossip, serving special interest and perhaps one sided propaganda.
“Probably yes” if thaksin does have cancer he realizes that he doesn’t have that much time to die a peaceful and wealthy death in Thailand. That’s why he now admits to be able to talk with AV instead of his previous comments of only willing to talk to AV’s handlers!!
“Probably yes”, if the junrai thaksin were serious about reconciliation and an end to divisiveness he would have his nominees and luke korgs in the puea thai party and his reds cease and desist in their continuing attempts to create disunity and divisiveness as a sign of good faith.
I do wish him well in the fight for this karmic debilitation that has afflicted him. Hopefully this will mean that he will devote more time to his health instead of furthering disunity and divisiveness in Thailand. His prostrate cancer is the result of his karma; he’s received what he is entitled to. Sartu.
BTW, hermione nad others; you should be aware that many many Middle Easterners come to Thailand for medical treatment. Just go to Bamrungrad Hospital and you will see for yourself.
Rama 9 Hospital was chosen by thaksin because he owns this hospital as well as Paolo and Phyathai Hospitals.
Thanong you are supposedly a journalist. Journalists normally don’t print gossip but quote and rely on sources. One might even say in some societies journalists don’t get suspected of having ulterior motives when printing stuff like this as well.
Because you do have sources on this story don’t you but just forgot to quote them? Otherwise your assertions on Thaksin’s health might be interpreted just as substantial as claiming that Abhisit is going to Washington soon for a heart transplant or Suthep is dying of AIDS. All very interesting gossip but yet very unsubstantiated as telling the truth.
Both of my parent-in-law died from prostate cancer - one at 80 and one at 84. The irony here is they both got complete physical check-up every 3 months at Samitivej for tens of years.
My father-in-law died after 9 months after he was detected of the prostate cancer. He stayed in a single room with couch, TV, refrigerator, and balcony in a private hospital for over 3 months. I and my wife were the main people taking care of him. He's got a tube stuck inside somewhere near his liver that drained the fluid. He needed to go to the washroom every 20 minutes or so. For a 5 meters walk to the washroom, it took about 5 minutes holding the bag with my assistance. A few times, he asked me to take him home so that he could offer me the fine cognac at his home. He's not too conscious. I miss him. He had suffered seeing it with my own eyes.
My mother-in-law lived almost 2 years after she was diagnosed of prostate cancer. She had an operation at 82; later on, followed with radiation therapy and chemotherapy. My wife was buying all kinds of reishi from Japan and China and took her for acupuncture 3 times a week. The reishi and the acupuncture alone cost about 15,000 a week. She survived for almost 2 years without pain till she passed away. I don't know if those reishi and acupuncture had helped physically, but I know they had helped both of my mother-in-law and my wife. Me too. Be they rest in peace!
My house is full of pictures of my in-laws and my own parents. Many families nowadays don't condone them. But I believe that's how I and my wife have brought up our kids the right way. When they come visit us - every year - the first thing they do are to wai our parents and then to the Buddha.
From statistics, it says that once a prostate cancer is detected, the patient has an average life of 6 to 12 months!
Why do Thai doctors go to Dubai ? There are excellent doctors in Dubai.
Prostate cancer is usually a slow-growing cancer, very common among older men. In fact, most prostate cancers never grow to the point where they cause symptoms, and most men with prostate cancer die of other causes before prostate cancer has an impact on their lives. The PSA screening test may detect these small cancers that would never become life-threatening.
Treatment of prostate cancer-
Your treatment for prostate cancer will depend on a number of factors, such as your age and whether the cancer has spread, and if so, how far. There are various treatments available. Some can have serious side-effects so it's important to speak with your doctor who will advise you on the best treatment for you.
Active monitoring
Sometimes, particularly for slow-growing tumours, no treatment is the best course of action. This is often called active monitoring or watchful waiting. Your condition will be monitored closely with routine check-ups. Your doctor may start treatment if your tests show that the cancer is growing or causing symptoms.
Surgery
Surgery is a common treatment for prostate cancer. It's most suitable for otherwise healthy men (usually, those under 70) whose cancer hasn't spread beyond the prostate.
The most common technique is a radical prostatectomy. This is a major operation, which removes the whole of the prostate and some surrounding healthy tissue.
New surgical developments include keyhole surgery (a laparoscopic prostatectomy) where the prostate is removed through smaller incisions and robot-assisted surgery.
Radiotherapy
Radiotherapy uses radiation to destroy cancer cells. Techniques for treating prostate cancer include conformal radiotherapy (CRT), high-resolution intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and brachytherapy.
Hormone therapy
Hormone therapy blocks the action of the male sex hormone (testosterone) that helps cancer grow. This can slow the growth and spread of prostate tumours but won't kill the cancer cells.
Medical hormone therapies include goserelin (Zoladex) and bicalutamide (Casodex).
Alternatively, surgical hormone therapy involves removing your testicles, which permanently gets rid of the main source of testosterone. This operation is called an orchidectomy.
Chemotherapy
If hormone treatment stops working (hormone refractory cancer) your doctor may recommend chemotherapy. Drugs such as docetaxel (Taxotere) are used to destroy cancer cells.
Cryotherapy
This is surgery to freeze the prostate with liquid gas and kill cancer cells. This treatment may be used if you have a recurrent or refractory prostate cancer.
Ultrasound
High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a treatment given using a machine that gives off high frequency sound waves. This heats up the targeted cancer cells and destroys them.
My honest advice to khun Thaksin is, submit to the law enforcement, serve for several months in jail and make pardon.
This process can be arranged by political way.
Instead, he retires at least 5 years from politics.
Half of his wealth belongs to the people and give up this. Tax evasion matter is the matter of legal technicality and can settle on penalty base without jailing his family.
Thai people must remember, Khun Thaksin was one of their former prime minister.
Khun Thaksin miscalculated although he had several opportunities to calm down the country and solve his personal matters smoothly.
In June 2008, "If Khun Thaksin fight inside jail, it is more effective". I once wrote this. He was so scared of jail and hostility from his competitiors.
Politicking must remain in fair competition, not in hostility against any group. It will make the opponents more united.
Real politics is to gather people around, not make people leave away.
Janus, 6. Double negatives are common in English colloquial speech, they are easily understood to be either emphatic or negating according to context. Naturally they are frowned upon in written English.
What really confuses many Asians is the use of "or" conjoining two alternatives. They usually reply "yes" which then confuses English speakers
As for negotiation, of course anyone convicted like this will try to steer it to be a political dispute, orchestrated by minions here, whereas if you look at it closely it's a case of corruption (anyone bothered to read the detailed transcript of the rationale of the court's decision?). Now, the latest is you have a high level committee ( called the National Reconciliation Committee, I think ) pushing for a negotiated settlement with Thaksin, thus in effect denying the validity of the court judgement in this case.
AV asked Yoon to read AV's answer but Yoon didn't read. That is all.
Smart Janus. Now there is a Thai person who knows how to ask and answer questions in a straightforward manner!
Who says the Thais do not ask questions and cannot answer questions?
When asked by Suthichai to confirm whether he would not hold any talk with Thaksin if the former prime minister would not return to serve his jail term first, Abhisit replied: "I want everybody to respect the laws".
Asked again by Suthichai to confirm his interpretation, Abhist said: "probably yes."
Thus
I probably would not hold any talk with Thaksin
Lost in translation!
Let's try the question again in bad English.
Probably yes I would not hold any talk with Thaksin.
