Their Majesties also wave their hands back to the public on both sides of the roads. The people are cheering out "Long Live the King" as the motorcade passes by. The motorcade is driving slowly so that the Thai people, who have been waiting for a chance since early morning, have a chance to view Their Majesties clearly enough. The total distance from Chitrlada Palace to the Royal Grand Palace is about four kilometres. It is a beautiful morning as the weather is quite nice, with sunlight, during this time of the year. A band performs the Royal Anthem. The King takes a seat at a huge chair, beautifully decorated. The Queen and the members of the Royal Family are standing behind. Earlier HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn walked down from the Chakri Throne Hall Building in order to prepare himself to deliver a speech to honour His Majesty. He stands below, just in front of the balcony, together with the rest of those who take part in this Royal Blessing Ceremony. The Chakri Throne Hall is one of the landmark buildings within the Royal Grand Palace. It was built during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, or Rama V of the Chakri Dynasty. It is used for formal royal ceremonies and also for welcoming royal guests and dignitaries. A block away within the same compound of the Royal Grand Palace is the Emerald Buddha Temple, in which the Emerald Buddha sits atop as Thailand's foremost Buddha statue. It is a day of great celebration to the Monarch, who not only turns 80 years old but has reigned for more than 60 years on the throne. After the Supreme Court President's speech, the band plays the Royal Anthem for the second time. Standing on the balcony, the Queen is holding the hand of the Crown Prince almost all the time. The atmosphere is majestic indeed. 11:00 AM: The King is now reading out a statement to thank all the people who are giving him the Royal Blessing. Thailand will achieve stability if all the institutions, which are the pillars of the country and the thai people, work together in unity. If we work and perform our duty and responsibility in unity, the benefits will fall on us and the society as a whole. The King asks for blessing from the Triple Gems and other sacreds in this universe to provide happiness to all the people.
