Goodnight, Mother
My mother passed away in the early Bangkok Tuesday morning after a 2-year battle with metastatic lung cancer and dehabilitating stroke. She was 66.
I got words of the earlier complication around lunch time on Monday in Los Angeles, 2 a.m. Bangkok time on Tuesday mroning. I found plane tickets to leave that very evening. On my way back home, my dad called to let me know that mom had passed away.
The cremation ceremony is tomorrow already. The traditional 8 days of wake and prayers have been shortened a bit, but that's alright. Us city folks have been adjusting traditions to make it convenience these days and I don't really mind that much. Sunday is a better day to have everyone be there. And that is better than sticking with traditions, I'd say.
I do have plenty more to say about my mom's death but I can't quite put into words just yet. I need a few more days. You guys will hear from me in another week or so, probably.
I'm still around. So don't count me out just yet!
