WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!
I can't stress this enough. Screw what I said about Benjamin Button. THIS IS THE MOVIE EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE. Okay, so maybe this is the geek in me speaking... so sue me. This is most possibly, nay, this is definitely the best superhero movie ever made.

If you love all things comic book-y, you should not miss this movie!!! Granted, it had its shitty parts. Most of all here in Thailand, where Dr. Manhattan's crotch was constantly blurred and they also blurred the part where Rorschach went nuts with an axe on that pedophile's head. But seriously, other than that and the fact that Dr. Manhattan talks way too much for my taste, there was absolutely nothing wrong with this movie. Even the cast was perfect.

Dr. Manhattan is the perfect robot-like/God-like character. If he were in any other movie, he'd be Neo in The Matrix or Klaatu in that recent crap alien movie or practically any role that a boring Keanu Reeves would play. Except: he's not Keanu Reeves (and that's a good thing). And although he may look like The Silver Surfer, he kicks way more ass because he's blue, he glows, and he actually has a visible crotch like in the graphic novel. Now if only we could see it in the cinemas here in Thailand...

Ozymandias is hands-down my favorite character in the movie. And this might be an odd choice as a favorite character, but I think he portrayed the character really well. He looked perfect. He spoke perfectly. He was sexy. He had that weird yet gorgeous pet. And he kicked major ass. Unlike other super-thingies, he actually had a valid point behind his actions and did I mention he kicks major ass? Because he kicks major ass! Matthew Goode has definitely come a long way since his roles in Match Point and Imagine Me & You. But I loved him then, and I love him now.

Rorschach is simply mesmerizing with his inkblot mask and his husky voice. It was a bit surprising to find out his hair color but, hey, it worked anyway. All the way up until the end. In the snow. With the inkblot formation thing. (It's hard to rave when I'm trying not to give away spoilers. Just... wait for it. You'll see what I mean.)

The Comedian is another favorite of mine. A lot of people could have filled this role, like... Javier Bardem! But no, he was still cast well. No Grey's Anatomy for you anymore, no sirree! What I loved most about The Comedian was that he wasn't like The Joker or The Riddler - don't let his name fool you! - he was more like an ironic portrayal of his title. And I love that he stood for nothing, believed in nothing, and simply did as he pleased.

Nite Owl... Now, Patrick Wilson... He was also very good in this, surprisingly. I had qualms about this choice of cast at first because I didn't think he could pull off the geeky desperate loser role, but he surprised me, in a good way. And wow, does he have a nice butt! I just wanted to... grr... anyway, he had cool goggles? ;p

Silk Spectre was great as the original (the mum) but the second Silk Spectre? Meh. She seemed like a wannabe Natalie Portman to me and I hated how she treated all the men in the movie. What a whore. It was a shame, really, that there was only one girl. Would've been nice to at least have one more.

The Final Verdict:
The cast aside, I really love how the movie was made as a whole. The directing, the surprises, the interweaving of stories... BRILLIANT! I simply loved the beginning when Bob Dylan's "The Times They are A-Changing" was playing and they incorporated superheroes into various events in history - that in itself is worth the money to see. And I loved how they played Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" during the sex scene - it was so fitting. And when they played Nena's "99 Luftballons". Okay... GET THE SOUNDTRACK. Anyway, this movie had just the right amount of action, romance, comedy, and drama in it to hold anyone's attention, whatever movie genre preference one has. And the sense of humor was way up my alley. I really can't stress enough how much I loved this movie. I can just tell you to watch it. Honestly. It's really good. If you don't think so, there is definitely something wrong with you. Definitely.
