Hard Times at Chatuchak |
During the weekends I went shopping with my mom at Chatuchak. The place didn't change much but the vendors seem really depressed. What happened was I was minding my own business, when I stepped into a handbag store. I was going to get a bag, then decided shoes would be great for me. The girl, who was the seller, said it costs Bt2,200 but I haven't decided yet if I was going to buy it. Then this guy, the seller too, stepped in holding a big box and an LCD TV. When he realised the girl was going to sell those shoes for Bt2,200 he went mad. He ranted: "Someone from abroad wanted me to sell for them, they bought it for Bt3,000 and you are going to sell it for Bt2,200?" The girl just sat and smiled while the guy went on a rant about how she could sell for that cheap. I wasn't mad either, but was observing the guy animal- like behavior, like a reporter. My mom though was the one who got mad and made an excuse to leave the store. At the end I bought the handbag, not the shoes. The guy seem to calm down afterwards when he realised I was going to buy something after all.
Chatuchak is a weekend market place, where they sell clothes, antiques, Thai souvenir, and more. To get there go to MRT Kampengpetch. She said yes, but don't let them lick my hands. Then this guy, who actually looks gay-like (sorry, gay society) looked at me really angrily. So I asked the gay guy how he was able to put the little crown into the dogs head so exquisitely. He turned to me and said angrily, "What kind of question are you asking. Don't you have any better question to ask?" So I looked at the guy, and smiled. I wasn't offended with the behavior as I know some gay guys have a bad temper, like a girl. But my mom was so mad, I swear she was going to start an argument so I just quickly walked on. When we got back home my mom told me that nobody buys anything that much anymore that's why the vendors were so upset and moody. She was concerned why I let them treat me like that. But I told her I didn't mind since I know they were all having a hard time. Me and mom decided that next week we should just stay home. |
