We Do Not Need a Saint. We Just Need the New PM To Work for the Countrys Good. |
|
We in the investment community do not need to have a prime minister of the country who is a saint. All we need is for him to work for the good of the country. His energies should be concentrated on the following priorities in the first 30 days of his premiership, or he can kiss his office goodbye: (1) Truly promote the country as the best place to invest in Southeast Asia by showing that his government is honest, transparent, hard working, efficient and has a vision that is put down in writing with firm, irrefutable and irretractable commitments from all of his cabinet members down to the first line supervisors and rank and file employees, plus all of the MPs and provincial governors and their subordinates. In other words, we need them to swear under oath, Buddha, God, HMK, and the People of Thailand that should they fail in their mission they will all submit themselves for beheading. (2) Show that all the wealth of government officials from the prime minister down to the rank and file employees were legally obtained and tax paid, with original income tax returns and tax receipts for the last 25 years for senior officials and 10 years for rank and file employees (except new ones and those with less than 10 years working experience, in which case it needs to be the actual number of years worked). (3) Show that he is a man who subscribe to the rule of law by promptly arresting his brother- and sister-in-law and all other fugitives now hiding overseas (e.g. Vatana Asavahem) and bringing them to justice. (4) Show that he has the mettle to deal with important issues like the Khao Praviharn Temple territorial dispute with Cambodia by quickly and effectively resolving the issue in an amicable way without giving even a centimeter of Thai soil to the Cambodian bandits. (5) Show that he has the vision to organize an effective and hard working government by appointing only thye most qualified and experience professionals to cabinet ministerial and deputy ministerial positions not just fron the PPP and Coalition Parties but also from outside the political parties as well as the Opposition Party if they are deemed to be well-qualified and suitable for the positions. (6) Hold all government officials responsible for doing their job effectively and efficiently with monthly reviews against objectives set in consultation with the People and respective industry and community groups, with severe punishments for non-conformance to job descriptions and non-achievement of objectives. (7) Ensure that government funds are spent wisely and transparently, that all project budgets are set fairly and diligently and expenses are made transparently and responsibly. Any suspicion and evidence of corruption are to be dealt with severely, e.g. cutting off of culprits hands or beheading for confirmed officials regardless of rank, position or personal wealth and power. If the new prime minister wants to be the leader of the country, the above are the least that he can and should commit himself to do for the country and the people of Thailand. If he himself cannot achieve what he has committed to do, then he himself will have to be beheaded. Normally I do not have to specify such stern measures, but in the case of the PPP and ex-TRT politicians and snakes, their blatant disregard for the rule of law and their blatant corruption and constant skimming of the National Treasury demands that they be subject to capital punishment when found guilty of any crimes when they are in power.
