Euro 2008 - It has never been this fun! (Go Germany!) |
I'm going to admit, that I'm not really a big football fan. You see, after working hard all day long, it is just too tiring to stay up late and watch 22 people chasing for one ball at 2 am! But now that I live in Frankfurt, when the Euro 2008 matches play at 6 and 8.45 pm., timing is no longer a problem. Despite the hype, and commercial promotions (come here and see how many products, from chips, chocolate to cars running the Euro 2008 campaign!) I was not so interested in it until last Sunday. It was a beautiful day. Wolfe and I glided around downtown Frankfurt until we arrived at KIA City Arena at Roßmarkt. Oh my goodness, there were thousands of people there. The place's capacity was 6,000 and it was full an hour before the match started! I felt so bad for not having a camera with me. Otherwise, I would have had lots of cool pictures to show you. So I was so determined that I would go downtown on Thursday evening and took some photos. Despite the rain, I embarked on my journey and here are the results:
Yes, the place was still full. Way before the match starts. I'm actually impressed with Germans' supports to their team amidst the rain!
The arena was closed way before the match started.
Quite a number of polices were patrolling around - not only just around the arena, but also in the nearby train stations. Last Sunday there were some fights. So security was tightened up too.
Fans again
Those who could not get in watched the match from outside. Germany lost to Croatia 1:2. So we gotta wait until next Monday. I bet the arena will be full again! |
