The *POPs* Culture

In the US, Midwesterns call carbonated drinks, *pops*, though I heard that the rest of the US call them *soda.*  I'm used to calling them *pops* so you will hear more of pops in this blog just so you know.

I love pops, and am lucky enough that I can get a 44oz of fountain diet Mountain Dew for as little as 50 cents at this gas station a block away from where I work. 44oz cup is huge (think about an 8oz glass of water. here 44.) Regardless of how many time my doctor has tried to warn me about the great amount of sodium in a can of pop, my desire outweights my good judgement, always.

Unlike some other countries, Americans seem to have a large variety of selections for pretty much every thing. I used to think it offers such a good opportunity for consumers to choose, but over times, I find it pretty silly (for those everyday-life essential items) to spend a large amount of time comtemplating which kind of tissue papers I want to buy. Tissue papers; how hard it that? Pretty challeging I must say. When I have ten different brands in front of me. Ten, I have to break them down. Each, I have to contemplate: do I need 1 layer, 2 layers or 3 layers? Do I want 2 layers with lotion? Do I want 3 layers with lotion plus aloe and vitamin E? The latest, Do I want 'ultra' plus Vicks? Yes, Vicks as of Vicks vaporup.

Back to pops. I consider myself lucky here. Coke or Pepsi? I've always gone with Pepsi. And I also expand it to all Pepsi products--Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Siearra Mist, Dr. Pepper etc. I find myself drinking only a few Pepsi products--diet Peppsi and diet Mountain Dew. So no need to contemplate in front of a large shelve at a supermarket.

Diet, Max, Caffeine Free, Cherry, mixed berries, lime, lemon, vanilla, cherry/ vanilla..etc--America is the land for pop lovers!

I remember back in the years, at one time, there was this one pop I just love. It wasn't a success at Thai market, so it disappears. I promise it tastes just like Mountain Dew (tastes like a mixture of Sprite with a little something with yellow-ish color witha  hint of lime green) . Anyone here remember the name of it?
