I worked in the tsunami affected part of Thailand on and off from Boxing Day 2004 through to mid-February 2005. During that time I was constantly touched and impressed by the humanity of the people, Thai and farang alike, trying to help, and the countless small acts of heroism that I saw. In the very worst and harrowing of circumstances, I will always feel that the tsunami brought out the very best....

If you want to see how traditional Thai craftsmanship is being preserved to magnificent effect, then you really should go to visit the Fifth Arts of the Kingdom (Silapa Paendin) exhibition at the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall. Have you been to Pra Thi Nang Ananta Samakhom (the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall) built during the reign of King Rama V? I visited today and it is such a beautiful Italiantate structure with an ornate marble and fresco interior. I recommend it to those of you who have yet to visit.Being there today made me think about the devotion that so many people have towards Prabat Somdet Pra Chulachomklao Jao Y....

I was interested to read the article on the Nation Web-site today about the increasing number of Northern Eastern Thai women seeking divorces from their farang husbands.Firstly, of course, I should express regret at the death of so many relationships. And secondly, before I begin, I should state my belief that true love between people of different races, religions and cultures is eminently possible.....
