This blog is entirely whimsical. There is no big point to make nor debate to provoke.Simply that I noticed today a nice brightly painted blue Toyota taxi near to my home. It had several advertising logos on the bodywork. One of which carried the tourist logo:'Unseen in Thailand'Through fate or merely coincidence, beneath it was a sign that attested to the provenance of the driver, who no doubt was....

My mum was recently diagnosed with bowel and liver cancer. She is being wonderfully strong and I talk to her everyday. I feel rather helpless being in Thailand with her in the UK, but I know that my dad and brothers are giving her lots of support. I shall go home soon for a visit before she starts her chemotherapy.I guess that so many people scratch their heads trying to think of the things they ca....

OK, so perestroika was not in evidence tonight as England cruised past Russia 3-0.Despite all of the doubts about him, Emile Heskey was commanding in the air and a solid presence up front. And then, of course, there is only one Michael Owen. He reached the 40 goal milestone for England with two class goals. Thailand is truly a lovely country to live in. Great people, wonderful tropical climate, fantastic food, fascinating culture and history. This country feels like my home. But culturally of course it is so different from England.One of the most notable differences I find is the systemic culture of hierarchy. From 2 year old kids learning to call their 3 year old cousins 'phee'. University student....
