One of The Nation's 2006 People of the Year has vanished from public view for more than two weeks. He is reported to be extremely upset with the landslide win by the pro-Thaksin party, People Power, in the December 23 election.

From browsing through popular Thai-language webboards like Prachathai and Rajdumnern on Pantip.com, it seems surfers are looking for him too. And Election Commissioner Sodsri Satayathum is seeking a clarification of an allegation involving him and her daughter.
Politics Chit Chat would like to give these people a hand to find this person. It's free of charge, really!

Guys. Sonthi is said to be returning from a temporary exile in the next few days. Maybe we should wait until then, in case he fails to show up.

Unlikely, since it's not in his remit. May be he got us some used F-16s or something...oh wait, that's the air force...

Ian, it's quite well-known that Gen. Sonthi is a Muslim; but it's also possible that he's looking for some co-operation on energy and other matters.

In that respect, he could be one of the more suitable envoys to the Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia, which in past years has had a rather...rocky relationship with Thailand.

On a more serious note, he's been travelling in Iran, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Dubai in the last couple of weeks. He should be back on the 30th this month.
