I made fried rice for lunch today, so dinner needs to be easy and quick, therefore here's my roasted eel with Japanese rice and vegetable soup.

My bag of Japanese rice.

My frozen roasted eel, (costs about Bht. 175.-) just enough for the 3 of us!

Pickled chinese cucumbers.

I heat the frozen eel in my oven for about 15 minutes.

You can prepare your Japanese rice with this "cube maker".

You can eat them with dried seaweeds. Sauce for my roasted eel.

Once eel is heated, put over rice and put sauce.

Dinner is served with vegetable soup and pickled cucumbers.

Taste delicious! This is my plate......

My daugther's bowl.....

....and my husband's share.

Alien-Eel tastes just like any other fish. Chinese Eel soup are quite delicious, but beware of the bones. Eating them roasted is better, if you don't like the strong smell. Please get a chance to try it.

Yabua-My daugther loves it too. Sometimes I would just put "mook krob" inside the rice to make it sushi mookrob...top with mayonnaise and if we are lucky, some prawn's eggs too! Delicious!

BTW FUJI restaurant in Thailand will charge you about Bht. 400.- for the "Bento Eel rice" like mine. But recently, the supermarket have frozen ones here which turns out to be quite cheap.

Unagi, the Japanese eel is caught from cold deep sea where proper rocks scatters, the sea of Japan between Korean peninsula and Japanese main island is the habitat of big body eel, Bear Eel.
It is tackled by long fishing line of bait.

The well-done eel packed and shown in photo is not certain if they are imported from Japan or Korea. Also eating the baked meat chunk with rice lump is new idea as if it is sushi. It is usually served in a plate without rice, or at best topped on rice bowl, or a part of 'bento', a tray having several comparts where various foods are contained.

I think many do not understand what 'sushi' is.
Anything rolled around rice lump is not sushi.
If one tops 'Pala' on rice lump, it is more sushi, than ones shown in photo.
Sushi is, rice to contain something sour on it or in it. Sushi means 'Sour Rice'.
Sashimi means ' raw meat foods, sliced by knife'. Therefore lump or cube or chunk of a meat never can be sashimi.
Why do they slice meat ?, answer is to wash the meat in venegar water to get rid of the unpleasant odor of the rawness. If ferment the slices and put it in rice lump, it becomes Sushi because it tastes sour.

" Anyway we eat like this !"

"Anago Domburi", Japanese calls it.
( In fact eel sashimi is one of the most expensive dish in Japan).

The best treat of eel meat is just raw, sliced thinly and using jute fabric, squeezing it out of meat juice, then mix with cooked, but little dry rice.

Adding sliced cabbage cabbage (pungent one) or lightly immersed spinach, sesame oil and roated seed, soy sauce, lemon juice, some wasabi, etc, are mixed together.

Korean style need korean hot chilly powder and mix.

Either style is very nice.

Korean eats the eel in charcoal BBQ on table but Japanese bakes it in hot oven.

Pan, I made sushi with roasted eel, or with smoke salmon and miso soup often as it´s my son´s favourite dishes but I have to pay much more for the roasted eel (about 10 euro) and have to drive 40 kms. to the Asia supermarket at outskirt of Frankfurt.
Yes, I can!!!!! I am not angry if you don´t believe me. 55555

Alien, if you like Japanese or Korean food, you will like this dish. Try it when you come to Thailand. Japanese food in Thailand is relatively affordable.

Beware!!!! I may sit next to you in that Japanese restaurant!!!!

What does eel taste like (don't tell me chicken!) It looks like fish. Being from the U. S., I have an aversion to eating it!
