A friend of mine asked, "Is it true that elephants can cry?"  She also mentioned this documentary about African elephants and told me that it was the grandmother elephant that led the herd.  I had previously thought it would be a bull elephant.

HJ, 9. Animals read body language, so as with you, cats, dog, and other animals accept me.
Thais mostly see animals as food on the move, animals sense this and avoid them.

Netnapit, after the Toba explosion land food sources became extinct in East Africa. The early hominids were forced to adapt to a semiaquatic existence rather like the modern sea otters.

Ugh, I didn't know that anybody ate elephants! If you could get over the abhorrence of eating such loyal, hardworking, majestic animal...how would it be possible to bite into such a tough meat?

I was just reading parts of some stories on the Silk Road, and they were describing the usefulness of the camels. I was horrified to find out that they also ate them. If camels had hearts that felt deep emotions, they must have so hated us human beings.

The video shows how the male elephants comes to the herd because he can tell that there's a female in heat among them. Interesting too to see the other sisters, aunts, daughters sort of cheer the mating.

Ian, so since our tears are salty, maybe we were mermaids and mermen before, eh?

There was a story on the internet about an elephant that sobbed...sad, it was abused by its circus trainer. The sobbing effectively changed turned the heart of that particular trainer.

For some reason elephant foot is considered a delicacy, probably because it is pure lean muscle. It is deep roast buried in banana leaves.

Netnapit, the ability to cry is evidence that the animal has or has had an evolutionary path that involved a marine adaptation. All sea mammals cry as do humans, elephants, otters etc, it is a simple mechanism for removing excess salt from the body. Crying without tears is called sobbing and is a different mechanism. Many sea birds cry through their noses, humans can also.

Elephant herds are always females and immature males, mature males are driven from the herd and live a solitary batchelors. A female elephant on heat will seek out such a solitary male and then return to the herd.

What is Jazzman's rice ?, American invent of Jasmine rice or fregrant rice.
To me, any 'fregrant' rice means odor.
I like plain, non-smell, less nutrient one, that matches better other rich cooks in a set.
