A new type of ADs for Thai businesses?

TeeTay is a piece of software we made that lets us control the screensaver, browser, and wallpaper of computers that have installed the software.

Its intended purpose is to be used in internet cafés for advertising. Whenever a customer sits down at a computer they will see a screensaver with our advertisement on it. To use the computer they will have to click on a button that has a 3 second delay timer on it. The button also signals to our server that someone has seen the advertisement. We will then subtract money from the advertisers balance with us, and credit the café with 50%. We keep 50% for ourselves.

The cool thing about it is that we can put practically anything on the screensaver, like a video, a small game, a survey, an email form and more.  We can also target the advertisements all the way down to street level, so that the restaurant across the street from the café can publish their happy hour prices to that café.

We just finished testing so I’m starting to think about cool advertising ideas and maybe about contacting some AD-agencies that would want to use the service.  I guess hotels and travel agencies would like to advertise around khao sarn, and movie studios might want to show their trailers all over the place.

Anyways, I’m writing to see if anyone wants to contribute any ideas about what would make a good ad!

rad, thanks. Yeah those floating ads are horrible, mostly because I can never find where the close button is.

Ian, yes I have, yes I would

narcisuss,
I am like Ian, I don't click on any ad, if I want something i will go look for it.

The Nation and Bangkok Post both use these floating ads that are totally annoying, they are force style, you must search the face of the ad to find the close and it is at times withheld, click anywhere near it and you get the download.

Anti to me, I usually move to another site.

But, what you describe has potential if done well, screen savers of any kind require at least moving the mouse or touching the keyboard, so one more step won't be to bad. The ads that I have accidently clicked have been graphics intensive and slow, so whatever you advertise make it quick and simple.

Ian, I feel the same way. And this is as annoying as ads get, because they can't even use the computer before they click on a button to remove the ad!
But it seems like some people actually don't mind.

I make a point of never buying anything I see advertised:-) I want to search a website for a product, not have it come pestering me unasked.
I expect that is too old fashioned an attitude for you to understand.
