Well, if the bride and groom work or used to work or met each other at that first KFC outlet on Wangfujing Rd., Beijing, then, we could believe this more comfortably, but they didn't. They were just a pair of normal everyday Beijing residence, perhaps with some strings in the high place of Chinese government at that time. When KFC opened its first outlet in Beijing on Wangfujing Rd at the famous Chang-an Avenue, just a stone throw from Tian An Men, it was so well accepted that, if you wanted to avoid long wait of hours in line, you might need some "official letters" from certain government agencies to help you cut in front of the queue. When a place is so overwhelmed with crowd and business, you certainly would need some strings from some rather high up places to get the place reserved to yourself for your wedding reception. At least one couple did just that, buying out several hours of KFC's outlet to have their wedding reception there. Will you go for McDonald or Burger King or Kai Yang Sanam Muay (Boxing Stadium Fried Chicken) or for Ian, maybe, at the Larb Som-tam outlet in his soi. |
