Those Deceptive VIP Members Cards
Posted by Piset , Reader : 3489 , 10:16:56

At the barbers, beauty salons stores, restaurants, coffee shops, people everywhere would try to convince you to take advantage of the VIP member cards with the extra services and big discounts by paying them a lump sum amount.  Some of these cards could be obtained with a payment of 2-3000 baht for the coffee shop's, others would cost up to 1,000,000 baht for the beauty salon and health clubs.

There is now an open market to purchase and sell you computer on line game money.  There are also virus to steal those game money that you stored online.

Obviously, some of those establishments in the fist case simply close down and the operators disapeared.

In the latter cases, the monetary authority are keeping check to these "money" as their uses are getting closer to the "money" produce by the monetary authorities.

I always refused to pay a lump sum for those members' cards in order to maintain my freedom of choices where to go next.  However, in my wallet there are still several gift cards from some friends.

A barbar/salon card with 4,000 baht credit inside and 62% discount on the service, a 2,000 baht coffee shop VIP member card from the company to save on costs of my small language clas training. (If you spend 1,000 baht there, you can keep the VIP room with 10 seats for the duration of the shop's opening hours, and we used that to train spoken English).  Also, I have several supermarket cards from friends worthing 500 to 1000 baht each because their employers chose to pay their OT in these cards to avoid the increased burden on taxes and welfare contributions.

How many plastic money cards besides Visa, etc. credit cards or ATM cards have you got in your wallet.

Here are some seductive baits for you to join these VI Pee cards:

1) 62% to 80% discounts to VIP cardholders

2) Free massage for VIP cardholders on all barber services, haircutting, hairdressing and haircleaning, etc. (just the face, shoulders, hands, neck and back massage. sorry not like the massage at Chao Phraya III)

3) 3000 baht extra discounts on the first day after you paid 15000 baht or more for a VIP card.

4) In Taiwan, they said, for the VIP VIP cardholders, you are also entitle to take out the lady barbers or beautificians. (Tose VIP VIP cards could cost about 300,000 baht or more)

Yes, you begin to wonder what the heck you might do spending that much at one of those haircare, skin care or healthcare centers, right? Me too.

Well, happy j.....:

Don't be so upset, when your job gets to certain level, they will require your to take first class travel too. I didn't have any choices.

For private trips, I still am insisting on economy or one of those low low discounted priced seats.

I loved the first class louge in Hong Kong. However, there were times when sitting in the first class can be rather lonely when nobody talk to anyone for the duration of the trip.

On long trips, the first class does give more rooms, better food and drinks better services, and above all, higher kickbacks to my ticket seller.

Now-a-days, those VIP cards mostly meant "Voluntarily Ill-advised Persons" as most of those cards really do not worth what they advertising said. I heard that when one of the biggest fitness in Taiwan suddenly went out of business, thousands of the VIP card holders had to find other ways to get their millions back.

I have none. I do not want to be a VIP. I do not want to be part of such groups. I do not want to pay up-front. I do not want to be obliged to go to one particular place in case I change my mind.

This preoccupation with image and special service is pitiful.
