A good horse is like a living sports car in some way. A fine horse, especially for dressage, should be sensitive to the rider's movement. In dressage competitions, you would find it difficult to notice what the rider do to have the horse move as he or she wants. The commands are so subtle. . The performance will become so smooth and amazing. It would be impossible if the horse is not sensitive enough. I did ride some good horses. One of them is called Phermkhet. He is sensitive when I told him to walk, trot, canter, go sideways or stop. I needed only subtle movement to tell him to do so, but I needed to be very mindful not to miscommunicate to him. I later stopped riding him as I lost my fitness when I take fewer riding classes per week. Another impression of mine is with Penkhajit. We were together in canter. When I found the horse was doing great, I told myself it was a good time to improve my posture. So I moved. The result- I fell off her back as she slowed down swiftly due to my changed weight pressed on her back. I did not blame her for my fall. I know it was my fault and then I realised how good she is. What happened told me that if I want to ride a good horse, I need capability to take control of myself well. (Please check out the next article and you will know who my most beloved horse is. :D) |
