Shogun is a dog of my neighbor. He is a Bang Kaew. Bang Kaew is notorious for its aggressiveness and owner-loving characteristic. The neighbor raised him as if he was an emperor, not just Shogun :P, when he was a puppy. He had chances to enjoy the house's living room for most of the time. But as he grew up he enjoyed the filed more so he was too dirty to go into the living room. Moreover, as he grew older he enjoys our neighborhood more so that he flees out of the house and wanders like a strayed dog every evening. He is six years old now. (Maybe freedom heart or the love of challenge is Bang Kaew’s behavior. My Bang Kaew called Kaew also tries to dig the dirt under the fence or break the fence when he’s got chances. He enjoys the mud outside the backyard and he tries to feel the air outside the house even few steps away from the house when we open the gate for cars to go out. But he knows he must come back as soon as possible.) I many times saw Shogun climbing up the fence to get out. If I arrive my home when he is out, he will greet me in front of my house and I will treat him with dog snacks I have in my car. He seems to care more about playing with me than the snacks. When I visited my neighbor last week, Shogun greeted me whimpering, making the owner speak to him, "Why do you have to be that glad, Shogun?" My neighbor said she was too tired to prevent Shogun from escaping for a trip outside. I think Shogun is lucky enough. He’s got good food, good care and the freedom he loves. The only thing worrying me is that if a car hits him. (He’s got a collar so I don’t think officers will arrest him. And the fact that he is a Bank Kaew could prevent others to take him to their home.) But if I arrive home when he is in his house, my dogs will jump near the fence and bark loudly as they know Shogun is the other side. They bark like saying "My master is back!" In my opinion, Shogun must feel inferior. Poor Shogun! (Am I exaggerating? :P) This story is inspired by GGrass’ story as a comment to Catch22’s "Thai Cruelty to Animals" article. |
