Are we living in a democratic country where people from different schools of thought could express their differed opinions? Certainly not. The problem with Jakrapob is he happens to be an individualist in a hierarchical society where people with non-conforming attitude have no place. And what appear before us are the traditional school’s incompetence to be flexible and their zero- tolerance of anything that’s rationally unconventional.

Once I read in a major English newspaper in Bangkok of a Thailand-based Japanese scholar who thinks that Thai people in general tend to look up to the elite class when they face a problem, instead of taking the lead and proving that they are also capable. That’s the reason why Jakrapob thinks it’s time Thai people came out of the guided-democratic structure.
