Having been here for a bout a week now and sampling the posts of a diverse group of bloggers and their somewhat diverse views; I have come to a preliminary conclusion.

Reading the blogs of ‘wanna-be radicals’: hermano, ginola, max, and candybittersweet, and posters like pomjuk, and catch, and the ‘zero integrity’ stevensin, is like being in a bull session with a bunch of kids.

It reminds me of what Richard Nixon once said, that, “Bull sessions produce only what bull produce.”

But ginola c 37, didn’t you say to – “Ian: If only there's one person who reads it, it's worth posting.”

I’ll read it; so post it again, in summary version of course.

Ginola, c37,

I agree that quick actions needed to take place; but was any time given before the close to immediate protest by the thaksin nominee led red shirts?

We’re getting confused between personal vendettas and the regaining of wealth and power vs. political reform and addressing of legitimate grievances. These two goals are part of the red shirts’ progrom. And it isn’t fair to those rurals who have legitimacy in the angst.

I made the following remarks to Ian on another blog: “The point is it's not as easy to make political changes when those involved (politicians) have vested interest and water down any reform.

How do we ensure that political reform, even though it's not supposed to, provides some ground rules, basis, for etiquette and ethics. Politics now is not self-regulating therefore it falls on a constitution to do so. Then any constitution becomes too wieldy and open to abuse because it’ll always be watered down with loopholes put in. Once again making it subject to abuse. How do we reform the politicians?

Political reform will take a generation at best. Most of our politicians, in the local and national level are self-serving.

What happens in the meantime while we wait for personal reform to take hold: same old, same old.”

Even if we have an independent outsider to ‘host’ the reforms, the politicians would say the reforms seek to punish them. Then it’s watered down again. What to do?

Notdisappointed, ct36:

If you have been following my blog, you should have noticed that I have proposed the solutions on several occasions. I knew, when Abhisit came into office, that genuine and quick actions were needed to promote reconciliation, or else the red shirts would come out in great number. I suggested long time ago that political reforms be carried out before dissolving the House. Nobody cared about these suggestions, of course.

So, for now, I am in no mood of suggesting any exit strategy. I also don't have much time these days.

notdisappointed date : 25/04/2009 time : 02.33

I wrote the following tomax but it is relevant to you also ginola.

Max, that was short and sweet. But no meat.

You, ginola, hermano, peace_out, and others have been numerous opportunities to bitch, make your feelings known, complained and vented enough. Now let’s get serious.

What’s the answer? What’s the solution? Details! Do you want lettuce and tomatoes with your hamburger? Red or white wine? Bottled or sparkling water? French or thousand island? How do you want it done?

Do you think the present leadership of the red shirts is sincere to the ordinary people who are disaffected?
Should a new group of more sincere leadership take their place? And who would these new leaders be? Where would they come from?
How would you ensure that they are committed to the people?

Do you think the present political system and parties is subservient to the people and looks out for them?

How would you change the system to be more people oriented?

How would you write the constitution to be more democratic?

Who is the leader you have in mind to lead us out of our national nightmare?

Who in your view has the capability, is unselfish, not corrupted, and will make personal sacrifices for the public good?

How should the disaffected be given equality?

How long would it take?

How much money would it take?

Where would the money come from?

How would you ensure that (all) the money goes to the right projects that will serve the people?

How would you ensure that the village heads, khamnans, district officers, provincial oubundsmen, local politicians, and national politicians do not take advantage of the disaffected?

How would you ensure that there is no conflict of interest between public office holders and theirs or their cronies’ private businesses or companies?

How would you ensure that independent institutions are not undermined and their powers reduced by unscrupulous politicians?

What would you do to ensure, or who do you think would, or which political party would ensure that the next constitution isn’t hijacked and parliamentary dictatorship doesn’t take hold again?

Hundreds of questions need to be answered; but all you guys have done is make hundreds of complaintsandvent.

It doesn’t help. Who’s gonna for it for you? Who has the answers for you?

Will you become part of the solution or just another critic?

Peace_out, 28 and 29. It seems we have been looking at different clip, I did not look at the clips you posted earlier as I assumed they were the same as the ones I had seen, my mistake.
Your link in comment 4 I found interesting, near the start we saw a Medium Machine gun being unloaded, is that normal in civilian riot control situations. A bit later on I clearly heard the BBC reporter say they were firing live rounds into the crowd.
The bus by the way seems to be travelling backwards which would make it easier to stop, the engine is in the back
Your other video clearly showed a bus hitting a bus, The main victim probably the bus company
What I think is becoming clear is we are seeing a battle of the video being waged via YouTube, you pick the videos that fit your opinion
I don't think either of us can win in these circumstances

-The quality of the photos are almost as good as some local professional journalists.
-The stories are too short - as good as a layman's blog.
-How come we don't see any pictures of gas trucks and bombing of residential areas? Or some dead civilians? Those will be killer shots!
-Clearly readers can see that the soldiers were holding large guns but the wound of the whining man was so tiny - what causes his injury - broken glass?

Answer: Refer to my C13 and video, do you know what was down the road in the path of these vehicles that were intened to specifically cause damage, injury, and or death to anyone or thing in it's path.
Ian C6:
"Reference the "hurtling bus" any sensible person, soldier or otherwise, would simply of stepped to one side. The idea of stopping it by riddling it with bullets is hilarious"
"the bus had no driver, the steering had been locked and the accelerator pedal jammed with a stick."
Answer: Refer to my C14 video at 01:30 the bus stops after being fired upon. Flat tires, engine damage, driver incapacitated? Regardless, the vehilce stops after being fired upon.

No response from you when I supplied what you asked for?
You could at least acknowledge what I have said is supported by the video's.
Who knows what was down the road from those hurtling buses? Do you ?.
You also claimed firing at a vehicle would not stop it. Did

My blog is disrupting the stability of the country??? Another biggest joke ever. How can an obscure blog like mine disrupts the country? You must be a fool to make that kind of argument because the reality is people who are disrupting the country are people like Thaksin, Newin and the likes.

I NEVER said that Nick's piece is 100% right, nor did I say that readers must believe in it. You may agree or disagree with the piece written by Nick, who risked his life following the events on the ground. It is posted here to provide information for people, so that they can read, see and judge for themselves what they think is right. It's Buddhist principle - you learn all the information there is and judge for yourself what is right or wrong. You can't just believe in someone or something blindly. Understood?

Last, I will work as a civil servant for the Thai people. My political opinion will not interfere in my work; I'm more professional than you think. So don't worry about government resources, which have been wasted in many other ways in much larger amounts by politicians like Thaksin or Suthep.

Considering Yuri's comments on Thailand food production. Also include exports, strategic location within the south-east Asian region, and allie of the western world.
Asia with a large percentage of the world's population plays an important part of the overall world financial and political picture.
Thailand is an important, albeit small piece of a huge picture.
During this time of conflicts locally, those behind the scenes will play for power and money.
As some in high places elsewhere have stated, "a crisis can not be waisted, but taken advantage of".
It is always about money and power, no matter how big or small the player.
Need to look beyond the Pawns of the Chess Game.

I am afraid you will probably find it is only myself who agree with you on that score. If somebody just moans about conspiracy, they haven't a clue, so I change the subject. I have been interested in this for many years.
The fact that what I learnt those years ago is now coming to fruition, makes it all the more scary.

I would say Red Lodge, Blue Lodge etc, but the yellow colour takes this line of thinking out of the equation.

That it is a very deep agenda can be no doubt. Only that Rockefeller has been seen visiting the Koenig/Rei. Rockefeller is one of the main players of the NWO. Although there are many others.

As I said, I expect you are the only one who will agree with me on this subject. Even the most intelligent find it loony and bizarre. Those in the know don't, especially if they are a fully paid up member.

Response to C10
As I stated "other innocent civilians and property" was speculation given the general areas of the events.
Look at 0:10 to 0:27 seconds, you will see a security comander out front giving various commands, as well as others passing commands and signals within the ranks.
From 0:27 seconds on, there are other civilans and journalists running for cover in the Benzine Station.

I have thought that the Governments 'crack-down' was handled exceptionally well. This notion was based on the fact that the was a lot of international press at the scene and that I'd yet to see anything which contradicted the governments version of events. I have also seen this reasoning applied by various Government supporters.

How revealing that as soon as evidence appears, that is contrary to the governments version, from the international press, it is summarily dismissed as biased.

Heat of the moment live firing at a bus. We have hindsight now to know many if not all buses were unoccupied. But at the time, without knowledge of "who or what may have been in the projectile vehicles", a commander would give the orders to fire in the heat of the moment.
Yes the militry could and did step aside, but what about the vehicles continued path?
Children, innocent spectators, journalists, other vehicles and property.
What if there were explosives set to detonate.
A very puzzeling scenaro to evaluate and take the best appropriate action in such a short time.
Of course this is speculation, but something to think about.
Those entrusted to secure the peace need to faithrully and fairly enforce order.
Unfortunately they seem to be hindered......

Peace_out, there can never be unbiased reporting, everything we see is biased by our own emotions. however it is possible to see through bias and still see facts, for example your comment about blue shirts.
Reference the "hurtling bus" any sensible person, soldier or otherwise, would simply of stepped to one side. The idea of stopping it by riddling it with bullets is hilarious, the soldiers were letting off steam and having fun.
Bye the way, the bus had no driver, the steering had been locked and the accelerator pedal jammed with a stick.
However, the more videos, pictures and reports one meets the clearer the picture becomes, Ginola's contribution fits a piece into a complex jigsaw. But as yet we cannot see the picture that the completed jigsaw will show.

Unbiased reporting
Read all the inaccuracies and spins and conjectures and personal opinons without any basis of supprting facts.
This is not unbiased and relevant journalism.
Nick does not have the facts as to who fired at him while hiding in the bushes.
No excuse for his stupidity. He may have been percieved as a threatening sniper lying in wait to either side.
Bullet holes in a bus..... hmmmmmmm
One would expect as the security forces did state they used live fire for self protection.
I would consider a heavy bus hurling down the street to be a threat not only to the security forces, but public as well.
Icing on the cake was Nick's reporting the red shirts were peacefully in the hotel looking for the PM.
You can read what you want into this garbage, but it is full of unfounded claims even by Nick's own admission and speculation.
When trying to play two sides against the middle, this "paparazzi" crossed into no man's land.
His conclusions are misguided from his fear after lying in wait, then being found and shot at by who knows who. He concludes security forces whom he observed with weapons. Not taking into account that there may have been guards of another colour around or hidden.
The only truth I see is exposing the blues for who they were in relationship to this.

Ian: If only there's one person who reads it, it's worth posting. Now that the dust begins to settle, more "truth" will come out.

From the article:

"I refuse, however, to accept the present tone of the Thai media that demonises the Red Shirts. Much of the escalation is the responsibility of the Government. How, for example can it happen that PAD guards and Navy personnel can appear disguised as “Blue Shirts”, who have collaborated with the security forces, as is proven beyond doubt, to engage in clashes with Red Shirts? That was not the decision of a local commander - this has been a top level political decision.

This is reminiscent of the dirty games and strategies of the 1970s, of extreme right wing militias, such as Navapol and Kratingdaeng, who with high level government and military support acted as agent provocateurs. Are we really back in this dark era of Thailand’s history? Have we not learned one thing?"
