Phrapradaeng Today I returned home early and stopped by a fresh market near my house to buy some vegetable for my vegetarian food which I prefer to make my own everyday if possible. Morning glory is one of my favorite. Sha-om also. And sweet vegetable or so called Pak-wan .. Spring onion and coriander will always add something to the soup. So I bought all I like. And never forgot the food for my dog. I thought today he might need some chicken- not the instant dog food as usual for a change. I walked straight into the kitchen and prepared the ingredients for the menu I visualized. It did not take long. Thanks to salt, soya been sauce, pepper, chillies, fresh garlic, and olive oil, the food tasted quite satisfactory. Cooking is like writing a poetry. Conceiving the idea first. I memorize my mother's culinary skill and set it as standard. Sometimes in the restaurant, I wondered why even easy menu like fried morning glory dish, they could not make it fresh, aromatic, and tasty. At home, no candles, no napkins, no silver spoon, neither chateau wine-- nor cheese-- still I was happy. The simple life in Phrapradaeng reminded me of my trip to Lyon. Lyon It was one Friday morning, a cab came to the residence I stayed at 5:45 am somewhere in Paris. I went straight to the airport to fetch my co-worker from Sriracha at Air France terminal. The arrival time was 6:05 am. We took TGV from there to Lyon to be on time for 10:00 am meeting!! It was his first time in France. And he was quite tired carrying all the heavy suitcases. My Ambassador friend gave me a small introduction to the city that Lyon's food is the best in France. Oh... how I love food. After the meeting my co-worker and I went straight to Basilique de Notre Dame Fourviere over the hill. We were so hungry. At first I asked if any of the contact persons I met could suggest us a nice restaurant. They tried to write down a few names but then my co-worker agreed with me that we had better go to Fourviere and eat up there. Exploring on our own, we then should take all responsibility for the end result ourselves whether good or bad. It was the right choice. ![]() ![]() ![]() I started with white wine from Chateau de Sancerre, and a nice salad.. ![]() The only menu for a vegetarian. ![]() And a nice set of ice-cream.. ![]() It proved that even a vegetarian could find food in Lyon so beautiful. How about my co-worker? Steak was his main course.. ![]() He forgot all the tiredness... Or was he too absorbed by the beautiful white wine they served, I really did't know. ![]() " Will you still need me? Will you still feed me? When I am sixty four.." ![]() ![]() The interior was also beautiful. Unesco World heritage. ![]() Details of the exterior. ![]() The river Saone before it rained. I shot the picture and ran to find the nearest shelter. ![]() Looking back to the hill of prayer I just left.. from Bonaparte bridge, Sawasdee, Fourviere and the nice food on the cliff. ![]() And after rain, there is always sunshine.. ![]() Taking the tram down the hill to the ground at vieux fourviere is quite exciting... ![]() ![]() Then TGV from the station Lyon part dieu back to Paris. ![]() It was Friday evening. TGV straight back from Lyon Part Dieu was fully booked. We had to go somewhere else and take TGV there to Paris Gare Du Nord. Terrible. So book your return TGV in advance. I regret I should have stayed in Lyon instead of going back to Paris! |
