For the love of food - Lyon and Phrapradaeng

Phrapradaeng
Today I returned home early and stopped by a fresh market near my house to buy some vegetable for my vegetarian food which I  prefer to make my own everyday if possible.

Morning glory is one of my favorite.
Sha-om also.
And sweet vegetable or so called Pak-wan ..
Spring onion and coriander will always add something to the soup.

So I bought all I like.
And never forgot  the food for my dog.
I thought today he might  need some chicken- not the instant dog food as usual for a change.

I walked straight into the kitchen and prepared the ingredients for the menu I visualized.
It did not take long. Thanks to salt, soya been sauce, pepper, chillies, fresh garlic, and olive oil, the food tasted quite satisfactory.
Cooking is like writing a poetry.
Conceiving the idea first.
I memorize my mother's culinary skill and set it as  standard.
Sometimes in the restaurant, I wondered why even easy menu like  fried morning glory dish, they could not make it fresh, aromatic, and tasty.

At home, no candles, no napkins, no silver spoon, neither chateau wine-- nor cheese-- still I was happy.

The simple life in Phrapradaeng reminded me of my trip to Lyon.
Lyon

It was one Friday morning, a cab came to the residence I stayed at 5:45 am  somewhere in Paris. I went straight to the airport to fetch my co-worker from Sriracha at Air France terminal. The arrival time was 6:05 am. We took TGV from there to Lyon to be on time for 10:00 am meeting!!

It was his first time in France. And he was quite tired carrying all the heavy suitcases.

My Ambassador friend gave me a small introduction to the city that Lyon's food is the best in France. Oh... how I love food.

After  the meeting my co-worker and I went straight to Basilique de Notre Dame Fourviere over the hill.  We were so hungry. At first I asked if any of the contact persons I met could suggest us a nice restaurant.

They tried to write down a few names but then my co-worker agreed with me that we had better go to Fourviere and eat up there.
Exploring on our own, we then should take all responsibility for the end result ourselves whether good or bad.

It was the right choice.

I started with white wine from  Chateau de Sancerre,
and a nice salad..

The only menu for a vegetarian.

And a nice set of ice-cream..

It proved that even a vegetarian could find food in Lyon so beautiful.

How about my co-worker?

Steak was his main course..

He forgot all the tiredness...
Or was he too absorbed  by the beautiful white wine they served, I really did't know.

" Will you still need me?
Will you still feed me?
When I am sixty four.."

The interior was also beautiful.  Unesco World heritage.

Details of the exterior.

The river Saone before it rained. I shot the picture and ran to find the nearest shelter.

Looking back to the hill of prayer I just left.. from Bonaparte bridge,
Sawasdee, Fourviere and the nice food on the cliff.

And after rain, there is always sunshine..

Taking the tram down the hill to the ground at vieux fourviere is quite exciting...

Then TGV from the station Lyon part dieu back to Paris.

It was Friday evening. TGV straight back from Lyon Part Dieu was fully booked.
We had to go somewhere else and take TGV there to Paris Gare Du Nord.
Terrible.
So book your return TGV in advance.
I regret I should have stayed in Lyon instead of going back to Paris!

Pan, nice to hear from you again.
..
Your daughter is a good girl. She made her mother proud. Just like YB's son.
Congratulations to both of you on the mother's day week.

Has she ever written any poetry or given you presents on this occasion, Pan?

Hi Everyone, DS, YB and Janus-I have always been here, but have be extremely busy. My daughter's attendance to her new school needs my daily concern as to whether she can get along with her friends and studies. Turns out everything worked out just fine. I am very proud of her.

Another factor is my discovery in meeting old school mates from Malaysia through Facebook. It's really a miracle to actually be in contact with friends you've even forgotten their names but only remember their faces for over 20 years! I have manged to dig up old pictures of them, and to my friends' delight laughed about it endlessly!

About that "bully" affecting me? Nah...doesn't bother me. He is just another jealous "mouthed dog" idiot who just won't stop barking at me......
I still cook, but just haven't come up with new receipes to share....

DS and YB-Your pictures of Europe really makes me want to go there one day. Waiting for the cheap Air Asia airfare.....hahahaha

Not true, weaker physically or mentally?
Why weaker, why not just stupid?
Why the need to denigrate another?

Or he just knows so well that he has nothing but muscles.
Truth hurts and can make a weaker nasty.

...Yabua, I think so.

My dear brother taught me that the guy who tried to beat women just covered his inferiority complex.
Cos he never wins any fight with the men.

Noonin, I also feel for her but I am sure that she is strong and wise enough not to take worthless opinions to her heart.
I have been getting several assaults from a particular blogger too but he didn´t really disturb me. I have been entertained instead.

Ladies I feel for Pan, are you in contact?
She has been abused, as bad as a physical assault.

Yes, Lyons has many roman ruins.
Besides, it is quite near to your house.

DS, I drove my son to Lyon too but for their Roman ruins not for food.

Jaratpan, nice to hear from you more often nowadays.
I love your comparison. Like DS, I totally agree with you about Thai food. Khao Hom Mali is heavenly delicious, isn´t it?

I love foreign food but I can never part with Thai food for more than a week at a time. Like children who love to play with their new friends, but at the end of the day, they need their parents.

Even with all the beautiful pictures you show, the text (names of the ingredients in Thai food) still occupying the place in my mind/heart.

The unique smell and texture of each ingredient and dish... Heavenly delicious
