Moscow : The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour

Kram in russian means temple.

On a clear morning in springtime, our group led by Khun Joy went to see the golden dome by  Moscow river.

In full term, this temple is called The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

Although the original one was demolished by Stalin , it was rebuilt again in 199o's. Outside, it looks great. Inside at the right angle under the central dome, I raised my chin to the paintings and the 3 dimensional architecture against my eyes, I felt I was in  heaven. May be the imagination of Christian's heaven in the elementary level is still on my mind.

I had  been schooled in a Catholic convent for 10 years before my pre-university. At home, our family are the devoted buddhists.  SinceI learnt both sides of the 2 religions, I felt the same standing in front of the holy Buddha image in the ruins of Ayudhaya or Sukhothai.

This is the back side overlooking Moscow river and the pedestrian bridge that leads to  the other side of the river.

From left you can see the chocolate factory which had produced arms during a world war. In love chocolate tastes so sweet. But in war the same workmen switched their craftsmanship into producing killing machines.

Not far from the bridge on the left side of the bank, there stood Kremlin  towers on the same side. To do sightseeing here in a big group, you need a bus and a guide.  But in smaller group, traveling up and down by metro is faster. For someone like me who passed the age of strength and vigor, I feel very exhausted. But my heartbeat never  surrenders to anything challenging and historic.

When I go to the place like this, walking around the area gave me a connection to the past and the original idea of the architect who laid out their structure and plan.

Harmony in composition. White and gold and bronze.

Angle and corner and balance of column and curves and arch.

As long as life is an introduction to death, people are still awared of supernatural power from above. Religions that were once destructed by communism policy had revived again. And this cathedral was the end result of the unity among the Russians. They donated money for the reconstruction of the building and restoration of their faith to Christ.

Hallelujah...

Dryshrimp and co from DEP, the cap was nearly blowing with the wind..

Very sharp pictures, may I ask if it was taken from a cell phone camera? If so, what is the model as I'm in the market for one.

Thanks.
