MOBILE PHONE PROMOTIONS

When working away from home a lot, AIS 1-2-Call gave me a promotion for cheap long-duration calls.

Last week they sent a text asking me if I wished to continue.  I didn't, so I did not answer.

So on the 1st of the month, they took money anyway.

I rang and asked them to return my money as I didn't want the promotion.  They said that was not possible.  I asked them why they texted me asking if I wanted to continue?  No reply.

So I ask how to cancel the promotion - they said I can't, I have to have a promotion.  I said I wanted the normal rate - they said they have no normal rates, only promotions.  I said that meant they weren't actually promotions, they were normal rates.  They said no, I had to have a promotion.

The people at True confused me so much that I decided i didn't want their service, and as they advertise a UBC Knowledge package without any documentaries or programmes imparting knowledge, I don't believe what they say anyway.  DTAC kept asking me about internet connections.  Someone asked me if I wanted an ATM SIMcard.

All I want is a normal charge for normal quick calls.  No guaranteed number of calls or SMS, no time limits, no special use for 3 days, no music, no rubbish, just a normal rate for using the telephone the normal way.  I can't take my number with me because their computers can do everything else except that (and giving me my money back which they took without my permission), so I don't care who it is.  I hate them all.

Can someone, who understands these companies, offer me any advice?

TIA.

Thank you all very much for taking the time to try and help me out. Your suggestions were all thorouhgly constructive and helpful, and I will be trying them out when my blood temperature is low enough to see the conversation through.

Thanks again

Panya, this is a semantic problem, in Asia the word "promotion" is best translated into English as "tariff", there are a range of tariffs to suit your needs, but they call them promotions, so obviously there can be no such thing as a "non promotion" service. They even have a special word in the Philippines for those who sell promotions, they are called promidisers
Pan explains it well.
I often get text messages from AIS but us the are just a row of oblong boxes on my phone they get deleted.
Many, many years ago I was with AOL, when I cancelled they tried to not let me, I simply telephones my Credit Card provider and cancelled their access, then ignored AOL.

Panya : I know EXACTLY what you are going thru.

The solution?

Have someone who's actually interested in these promotions choose one for you.

That's what I do.

AIS 1 - 2 call? It sounds like that airline 1 - 2 Go that crashed. Maybe the people in charge of refunds at 1 - 2 call were on that plane!

In the old days, people here in the U. S. used to sign up for "America On Line", later shortened to "AOL" for computer service. From what I understand, it was easier to get out of the mafia than to later cancel your AOL service. They would just keep charging people's credit cards month after month, even if the people did finally did get in touch with someone at AOL to tell them to cancel service. I think the government got involved and threatened AOL when the complaints became numerous enough so it became easier. All I can say is good luck.

This sounds really bad, Panya.
Here in Germany, we have a different problem.
Those telephone companies keep on calling us, trying to sell their promotion. Although the law doesn´t allow it but we can´t do anything against it because they never let us see their numbers.
It´s really annoying, especially when they call in the evening and I am busy preparing dinner.

Panya-Jai Yen Yen and take a deep breath and understand the word "promotion". What they...all of them....meant by the "promotion" is actually the RATE you WANT. For eg....

Promotion 1 : 2bht per min all calls including those to the same service provider (dtac number calling to dtac number or AIS to AIS or True to True)

Promotion 2 : 1Bht per min to calls between same service providers; but Bht2 min between different service provider.

Promotion 3 : monthly payment of bht. 99.- for using internet on phone for 30 hours; does not include phone call charges of bht2 per min or something similar to the above.

Promotion 4 : Call to same provider between 10pm-10am for only 16 satang; outside of this time frame will be bht. 1 to same provider.

What I am saying is....you just need to pick the one which suits you; the best "normal" rate you call it. For AIS call 1148 or 1175 and DTAC 1678 but the service line for TRUE....I don't reccomend.

Jai yen yen na......
