GAY LOVE TRIANGLE

On Box Theatre Group's revival of "I Love You Guy" delighted audiences when it premiered last November at Raka Cafe and Love Restaurant on Phra Athit Road as part of the Bangkok Theatre Festival 2007. SPECTACULAR horse show

Once in a while, amidst many programmes of dance, theatre and music of an international festival, the organiser adds a special show. As part of the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2008, Theatre Zingaro's "Battuta" is such a case. The appearance by this French troupe and its spectacular horse show marks their second in Asia, after Japan. In the 1980s in France, Zingaro was founded by a keen equestri....

especially for DOG & CAT LOVERS...

A theatre company known for its social commentary, the Bai Mai Wai group, turns its sights on abandoned pets with "Dog 8 Cat 9". This is the seventh work by the 10-year-old community troupe, formed by theatre graduates at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, who get together when their schedules allow or "when we feel the need to voice some comments on certain issues" says Preechayu....

BKK FRINGE FEST has wrapped...NOW WHAT?

Despite fewer performances, the last weekend (February 15 to 17) of the Bangkok Fringe Festival 2008 at Patravadi Theatre highlighted the most important characteristics of this showcase of contemporary performing arts. The experimental element in all the works was still dominant, as the spirit of intercultural collaboration as well as crossover between various performance discipline....

4th WEEK of BANGKOK FRINGE FESTIVAL 2008

Audience members arriving at Patravadi Theatre's Studio 1 last weekend (February 9 and 10) were surprised to find themselves being led away from the seating area and into the performing space. And that wasn't the only shock. Glancing around the theatre, eyes opened in amazement at how untidy it was, with clothes hanging from the wall and scattered on the floor. As the lights dimmed, it became apparen....

NOTE UDOM Stand-Up Comedy REVIEW

It's been almost five years since comedian Udom "Note" Taepanich's last graced his favourite Bangkok venue - downtown's Scala theatre - with a solo performance. But his fans should be grateful, as the time away has allowed Note to amass plenty of amusing stories and funny anecdotes and try them out on his friends. It also means that the master storyteller and born funny man is now just a fe....

NIRVANA in Singapore

Last weekend (January 31 to February 2), Bangkok University's Performing Arts department became the first ever Thai theatre company to perform at Singapore's Esplanade Theatre Studio. This was another first for the young cast led by producer and department chair Wankwan Polachan and playwright/director Punnasak Sukhee, who also thrilled crowds at the International Festival of Independent and Amateur ....

a must-see play...I LOVE YOU GUY

Although we may not have heard their names very often - they are not as prolific as Naked Masks or Theatre 8X8 theatre troupes - "I Love You Guy" (or in Thai, "Thirak Khong Kan") is On Box Theatre Group's fourth work. The troupe leader is a veteran ....

Enthusiasm filled Bangkok's Patravadi Theatre last weekend with its Theatre-in-the-Garden finally more than half full on the third weekend of the Bangkok Fringe Festival 2008. The screening of short independent films in the afternoon may have boosted attendance, with many people staying on to watch the evening dance performances. And although the audience still consisted largely of expatriates, there....
