The Englishman and his car
Posted by Ian , Reader : 369 , 18:54:27

It is a well known fact that the Englishman loves his car, the weekend ritual of washing and polishing is a common sight. He hates to be parted from his car and will go to extremes to avoid this.

He has an eviable reputation for his skills at parking in tight places

He takes pride in the clearly marked and laid out roads provided for his use.

Plus the numerous signs designed to advise the motorist

Even local organisations will contribute helpful signs

    and

We will point out places of interest to you

But above all else there is the spirit of togetherness motorists show one another. Have an accident and many others will join in to help.

Is it any wonder we complain about Thai roads and drivers?

Cars should be fitted with Engine Hour Meters these Days.Kilos dont mean much ,for example a Car in Bkk can show few Kilos, but the Engines been Cooked for Hours. Why do Boats have Both.perhaps Boat Salesmen dont Scam you.

Peace_out, I admit I did have problems finding one of sufficient magnitude. However, as there seemed to be as many cars driving on the left as on the right, short of tracking down the original picture I just guessed.

HJ C 10;
Actually I had seen many Thai's living not too far from the big fog crash on Interstate 5 north of Sacramento.
Thai's in the west should be more careful and know that some western folks can speak and understand Thai

You note there are no Thai Ladies to blame for the Crashes.

Your photo no. 3 reminds me of several roundabouts I had to negotiate while driving in the UK. I can still remember one particular roundabout with 8 branches and two traffic lanes around it. I had to go round and round several times because the sign (with small letters) was close to being illegible at 35 MPH. It sounds funny now. It was not funny then as I had to try to read the tiny sign and watch out for other vehicles at the same time.

Most of the signs around roundabouts in the UK seem to be smaller than those I have seen around "circles" in France or the US.

Thanks for sharing the humorus photos. Many of them are priceless.

Ian, I remember the multiple roundabouts in the UK as in your 3rd pic. I thought I will not survive it - driving a British car AND these many roundabouts AND not to know the way! We have been driving from Newcastle to London - and it was planned that I just follow the car of a friend. But we lost each other and I had to find the way by my own.....

Pan, yes real, there are many islands like that in Scotland, I was tempted to buy one before I moved to Thailand, but the weather is rather extreme.
