Remember this guy...from 20 years back?

RETROSPECT DOES THIS GUY SEEM FAMILIAR TO YOUR MEMORIES, FOR THOSE OF YOU BORN AT LEAST, IN THE 60's AND EARLY 70's? HE WAS A POLITICAL DICTATOR...HE ALSO WAS THE UTMOST RIGHT-WINGED LEADER, WHO WAS VERY NICE IN IMAGE & APPEARANCE AND FULL OF PROMISING WORDS TO HIS PEOPLE... HE WAS ALSO BRUTAL TO THOSE THAT OPPOSED TO HIS REGIME...THE MUSLIMS IN HIS COUNTRY STRUGGLED TO SURVIVE. THEY WERE CRUSHED. HE LIKED PLAYING GOLF...ENJOYED THE STATUS OF FOREIGN BIZ-POLITICAL FRIENDS, AND DISPLAYING HIS ENORMOUS WEALTH- ALONG WITH HIS WIFE AND HIS FAMILY TO THE PUBLIC. HE PROCLAIMED THAT EVERY ASSET, HE OBTAINED AS PERSONAL WEALTH...WAS ALL CLEAN & HONESTLY EARNED, WHEN THE MAJORITY OF HIS COUNTRYMEN STILL HAD TO SCRAP FOR THEIR DAILY LIVING...AND LIVED IN HOPE OF ALL THE PROMISES, HE GAVE...WHICH TURNED AS MERELY THE ILLUSIONS IN THE END. HIS NAME WAS "FERDINAND MARCOS". HIS CHRONIC-ILLNESS DEATH HELPED LIBERATING THE PEOPLE OF THE PHILLIPINES TO A DEGREE. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ IF ALL THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR...THE RETURN OF "UNCLE THAK" COULD WELL BE THE BEGINNING TO THE SIMILAR ROAD, YET AGAIN. Uncle Thak and his wife are so far, the perfect example in the return of Marcos' ghost.

It is a pity a large number of Thais still fall for their luxury and wealthy image, when these people are really making their return to yet again, rob the country.

Marcos and Imelda were very famous in Korea. Their lavish life style, their corrupt natures... comparable to Korea's president Chun Doo Hwan and his wife. They were around the same time also. I think they were friends.

I was a little kid then, but how can I forget such 'celebrities'?

GGrass - Imelda Marcos is still alive and lives in a condo in the elite section of Makati in Manila. Her recent interview quoted that most of her shoes were samples given by manufacturers. Bullshit? She stretched out her feet to show that her shoe was cheap & costs only US$5. Were you not a small kid during Marcos' regime?

Is that what he looked like? Pretty handsome for a PIG. He was legendary. Even I know what a jerk he is. A major A-hole. The only good thing he ever did was to die. His wife should have died with him and her million pairs of shoes, but sadly she servived and lived a long life. I think she's still alive. (I may be wrong, afteall, who am I anyway? I could be wrong...-_-.)

Looks a lot better than [] head.
