Rakesh claims he recently had a stroke and needed some rest before he could be put on trial here after having fled Thailand for 13 years to Canada. But police proceeded to seek a court's order for a 12-day detention. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said this morning that he will personally ask Rakesh whether all his legal rights were respected -- a rare gesture from a prime minister, prompting someone to tweet: Did Obama do this to Madoff? |
