The ex-premier's tone was more assertive than his previous video-linked speeches. But he offerened no new initiatives to strike the kind of national reconciliation he again expounded. He said PM Abhisit Vejjajiva was on his way to the UN General Assembly, the same trip he took three years ago when he was ousted by the coup. "I didn't think the UN General Assembly was important enough for the PM to have to be there in his first year in office. For me, I went only after I had been PM for four to five years...but PM Abhisit will be rushing there in his first year..." Thaksin said. He ended the statement by calling for national unity which he said would be "the best medicine" for His Majesty the King. Then he said: "We will meet again in Thailand...but I don't know when." |
