Kamala's warning to Thaksin....long ago

Her warning to Thaksin Shinawatra seems to have come full circle, hasn't it.

Kamala Sukosol, the owner of Siam Hotels & Resorts, a talented singer, told the latest edition of Bangkok Post's Guru magazine:

"Politics is dangerous territory. Long ago, I was approached by Thaksin Shinawatra. He told me he was forming a political party called Thai Rak Thai and wanted me to be a prominent member. I told him: 'Politic is a bad idea. You will be sorry.'"

Is he sorry now?

I think there is merit in HA_HAH comment 18. Thaksin is too international in his thinking to just concern himself with Thailand. Keeping him out of Thailand is simply forcing him to be even more International in his business activities.

And why did Pa Kamala said "Politics is a bad idea. You will be sorry.?"

Does it mean politiics is so dirty you should not get involve?

Then, will this apply to people like Chuan or Abhisith too? Especially, AV whose intention is to make a career in politics since the beginning. He once gave an interview saying, he wants to be a professional politician. There had been no professional politician in Thailand.

So what is AV's motive? Does he enter politics to help people or just see it as a career and advancement in which premiership is top success, just like being a CEO for most of us. Is that self-serving too? If he doesn't have a good back up, AV is still in his second hierachy. Premiership is a windfall for him. So continue praising your Abhisith. He probably has no regret. Thailand 46th Premier, former Oxford's Honour student. That's a great success from hugging Sondhi Lim and Nevin.

If we are all shades of gray, I think Thaksin was a pretty dark shade of gray.

c16, mr. expresso.

everyone who takes psychology 101 in the US knows the word, 'self-actualization'. It's in the Hierachy of Needs according to Mazlow :

1) Physiological; food, water, sex, sleep, excretion...
2) Safty; employment, resources, morality, family, health, property ...
3) Love & Belonging; friendship, family, sexual intimacy
4) Esteem; self-esteem, confidence, achievment, respect of others/by others
5) SELF ACTUALIZATION ; morality, creativity, spontaneity, problem solving, lack of prejudice, acceptance of fact.

---------------------------------------
I would like to add :

Outside Thailand there’s a big world. Before 19/9, a financial analyst predicted the direction of the country saying Thaksin’s next step is not only in Thailand. It's being an Asean Leader, a Lee-quan-yoo, or Mahathir of Thailand. Yes.

And after Asean, there’s the world to conquer. That is the thought of someone who think outside a little world called Thailand. So you guys think Thaksin’s next step is to bring down the monarchy and set himself as president? There’s better way for that. Thaksin thinks BIGGER and more CONSTRUCTIVE than that.

Evil can only think evil thought and think other people is evil like himself.

HA_HA, what I mean is exactly what you have just rephrased, with humans there is no such thing as black and white, 100% evil or 100% good. We are all shades of grey.

I'm also glad to have learned a new word:

SELF-ACTUALIZATION

I must begin to learn more English so I can begin to put at least one sentence in a coherent manner.

I must go back to the USA to get more education.

Mr. Ian, I am not sure if I understand your c13. right.
I didn’t mean it’s ok with corruption (helping oneself).
My point is you can’t see people as black and white.
I don’t think Thaksin is totally bad or evil. I don’t think he’s done everything just for himself. As a human at this stage of his life I think he is striving for self-actualization not just money.

I hope that HA_HA response is a true reflection of Thai thinking, the ultra polarised comments of others is part of the basic problems in Thailand.
Why should it be wrong if by helping others I help myself? When I help people in my village, and in Thailand that always means financial help, it increases my status. Do I do it because I want to help or do I do it to increase my status? Expresso would say I do it to boost my image, Really I just do it because it is my nature to be a sucker for a hardship story.
In my experience people who always look for ulterior motives in others are people who always have ulterior motives themselves.

Who's sorry now?
Who's sorry now?
Whose heart is aching for breaking each vow?
Who's sad and blue?
Who's crying too?
Just like I cried over you?
Right to the end
Just like a friend
I tried to warn you somehow
You had your way,
Now you must pay
I'm glad that you're sorry now.

I'm glad that you're sorry now

Has anyone in Thailand ever done anything out of charity, self sacrifice and for no personal gain?

Can anybody in this Website say he/she has never corrupted? Have you ever take a pen from your office home, or skip work or use working hour for own pleasure? For me that's also corruption. And I think almost everybody corrupt in his/her own capacity.

NEVER!

c7, mr. happyyack ... fortunately you write something i can understand this time.

you said banharn at least give something back to suphanburi ... in this case P.M. Thaksin also has given something back to the country na.. and he did in grand scale, a revolutionary. THE OLD POWER CANNOT STAND HIM.

for people who think Thaksin can be totally evil while those they stand for are saint. I think they're more naive than me. Only hypocrite thinks or preach he/she is a saint. Who can so fluently accuse other people. Because these people have never looked at themselves. Thaksin fails because of these hypocrites so successfully brainwashed "all those saints" in Thailand.. Look at Sondhi Lim in his white attire giving holy water to he followers. That's what i mean.

You Yellows obviously never have heard about Pyrrhus. The problem in Thailand never was Thaksin who after all was democratically elected.

The real problem is military dictators such as Mr. Abhisat and his disciples such as the corrupted S.Limbless and his terrorist band of brothers. Those deplorable bended crooks really tarnished the reputation of Thailand and thus the King worldwide by their terrorist acts, such as a coup and hostaging hundreds of thousands of people in airports. Only God knows how many billions of baht such renegades have stolen from the Thai people.

Only uneducated and intellectually inferior buggers without any decency such as “DamnedByNation for treason against King” (C6) can support criminals such as Sonthi, S.Limbless, Abhisat and their corrupted cronies. Same as the Mugabe supporters do in Zimbabwe. Regretfully this will lead Thailand into the same international stature as that of Burma.

Good response to Ha_Ha's strange thought process, Khun Panya.

When someone . . .anyone talks or writes about Thugsin being "passionate" about "poor prople" I think of it as the same as any Thai miniter of social welfare being "passionate" about the beggars in Bangkok and elswhere.

They are passionate but they really don't care. What have they really done so far to take care of these unfortunate members of Thai society to help them become "normal" people who can contribute to the well being of society instead of being a burdern to society. That is the most important thing these ministers should address but they are obviously more interested in what model Mercedes Benz saloon they are going to get from the government as a perk that comes with the position.

And why should government officials be entitled to use these luxury cars when, for example, Toyota, Honda or Nissan cars can do the same job just as well, without the high price tags and service and maintenance costs. The price difference can be allocated for other, more useful purposes.

HAHA C4

I think you're right, if he regret he would quit way back, but he is too passionate about power and money. Not poor people. He only likes them as they are his key to power and money. But his lies show that really he just has contempt for them.

Banharn, Sanoh, Chavalit, Nevin and Thaksin are all as bad as each other. They only care for them and their friends. Their country is just there for their games and ego. They pretend and talk sweet. It's all just ¼Ñ¡ªÕ âà˹éÒ.

I don't think so. If he regret he would quit long ago. Thaksin is a passionate man...for money and power and poor peopel. Yes, i believe he has that for people too.

Somebody said the reason for Thaksin fall is because he's naive in politics. Thaksin and Phuethai can't compare to Chuan and now even Abby and Democrat. ...a good thought.

What do you think K. Yoon? People like Chuan, AV, like Banharn, Sanoh, Chavalit, Nevin ...VS Thaksin...?
