Guess who I met at the White House?

It wasn't exactly an accident, of course. George W. Bush was coming to Thailand on Aug 6 on his way to Beijing for the Olympics. So, I went to the White House to  ask him a few questions about Thailand, China...and of course his own life after the White House. He was warm and charming. Naturally, he appeared to be answering all the questions that I posed. But you have to judge for yourself whether he was really responding to my queries.

Is there life after the White House? "Absolutely. I am only 62," he enthused.

Read all about it in The Nation. Watch the interview on my programmes on Nation Channel and "Cheepajorn Loke" on Channel 9 (daily and weekly programmes)...and soon you will get to see the videos in the The Nation's blog too.

Western newspapers have Editorial Policy. In the UK, pro America or anti. Pro Labour/Tory or anti. Some, like The Independent campaign for the environment. The Nation is anti Samak then pro, anti PAD then pro. It doesn't seem to know its arse from its elbow !

Asking US ambassador is the fastest way to find why Pres. Bush comes here.

Thai people have a habit to write long for simple three sentences' answer in,, a test,
Journalists were produced in that way.

Plaadit, I have to agree, I don't know what the hell is going on at the Nation. Spelling, grammar and numerous errors of both facts and logic.

I just copy the first part of the Nation's editorial

EDITORIAL
Time for a rethink on the 'War on Terror'
By The Nation
Published on August 4, 2008

Bush's visit an ideal time for Thailand to consider where it fits in the battle against global terrorism

With US President George W Bush's visit to Thailand this week, Thailand should ask itself whether the "War on Terror" is succeeding. Just as important is where Thailand fits into that war. In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, the government of Thaksin Shinawatra dragged its feet and took a selfish attitude by dismissing any suggestion that members of Jemaah Islamiyah or al-Qaeda might have established a presence in the country. Bangkok was afraid that it would lose tourist dollars if it did so.

But all that came to an abrupt end when a well-known terrorist, Riduan Isamuddin, also known as Hambali, was arrested just north of Bangkok in August 2003.

The change of heart paved the way for Thailand's participation in the US-led invasion of Afghanistan though later Bangkok used the excuse of some outdated UN mandate for not going into Iraq because it did not want to upset the Muslim world.

On the surface, the American invasion of Afghanistan following the September 11th attacks struck a huge blow to the Taleban, all but eliminating their rule in that country. Today, however, the Taleban and the terrorist organisation al-Qaeda are still going strong.

One more thing, Iraq war started in March 2003. Hambli's arrest took place later. How can you be so free from the facts? I am really surprised by the moral harzard of the nation. It is just unbeleivavle.

You see. The US invasion of Afganistan took place in October 2001. I wated in Peshawar for the war to start at that time. Hmbali's arrest took place in 2003. How could the arrest in 2003 can cause the change of mind in 2001. What is happenning to The Nation? The situation was similar to that when your company got inspected for tax ivasion case by Thaksin's government . Your are losing the reader's credibility. Why don't you take the rein?

From today's editorial of nation.

What the hell is happenning in the Nation?

Thailand actually sent its troops to Iraq. I made an interview in Karbara with Thai colonel after 3 thai solders were killed by Terrosist attacks.

What kind of kids are writing your editorial? I frankly ask you, Mr. Yoon. Is the Nation out of mind ?

sorry, correction again. My true advice is that don't write something you yourself DON'T believe to be possible.

The conclusion of Today's editorial follows.

Bush will have to seriously engage Thailand as the country picks up the pieces and restores its democratic institutions and mechanisms.
**********************************
How?

My advice is that don't write something you yourself believe to be possible. This editorial is inferior in qualitiy even in a society sheet.

My common sense say that the point is that Bush's visit will come in the low ebb of the governemnt which became lame-duck, so we can not expect anything positive from the visit of another head of lame-duck governemnt

By the way. Does anyone can understand today's nation's editorial on Bush's visit? What does the Nation want to say by this? The author(authors?) is just beating around the BUSH and giving us no hint of whatn they are looking for.

Even Samak must be warm and charming if you personally met him as one-to-one. Without such type of selective charms, they cannot get the position. (Given the attitude to the Qatar based TV, Samak might be exception, but I sitll think he can be charming if he is willing to do so.)Even the late Ariel Sharon was very chrming to the jounalists who he allowed to be a exclusive interviewer. My fixer in Israel said that every journalists were "melt like a cheese" by his charm, when they met the late prime minister who was called "a butcher" by his opponents. One of the secret of their magic is that people tends to love people in power. The more powerful they are, the more people like them when they have illusions that they can established somehow personal relations with them.

US once left Thailand who was imminent at the hands of the offensive communists campaign in this fragile peninsula, the COMINTERN syndicate led by Ho Chi Min.

Thailand was the last chip in Indochinese Dominoes.
They fought back and won.
Now, Thailand is the reverse domino chip that will democratise whole peninsula. Cambodia and Loas are them, Vietnam is on wind.

HM Phumiphol and his role in this regards must be correctly appreciated together with Bangkok that has been the defending head quarter.

The LAST CHIP, Burma, the country must be sunshined and Thailand will do its role. US must re-start from this tag.

The HM Phumiphol

Khun Yoon-
You sup with the Devil and spend a lot of time attacking Thaksin Shinawatra !
It really is quite pathetic.
Thais are overawed by money and power.
No philosophy, no culture, no backbone, no moral identity. Just worship money ! To think that I criticise the Chinese !
