PAD spreads a pro-Thaksin coup rumour ...

Another coup rumour is in the air -- this time spread by a key leader of the seven-week-old anti-government protest.

Suriyasai Katasila, a core leader of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), claims this evening that a group of Class 10 graduates from the Military Academy ( Thaksin Shinnawatr's classmates), plan to stage a coup to protect the former prime minister from a series of upcoming court cases.

The PAD leader told reporters: "I have received sufficient information to believe that Thaksin's classmates who now hold some key positions on the army will stage a so-called self-coup so that they can stop the court cases from proceeding against Thaksin."

Suriyasai also claimed that hundreds of million of baht has been offered to prosecutors to drop injunctions against Thaksin.

He warned that the upcoming annual military reshuffle in October may witness officers opposed to the former premier reassigned to pave way for a pro-Thaksin alleged "self-coup."

Suriyasai did not say how he had obtained such information.

Thaksin badly needs, a SITUATION.
Samak's HANGING ON tactics proves this.
Samak thinks he is on same boat with Thaksin.
If deem to die, die together.

Only Super-Constitutional action would offer some clues to both, to get out of the systematic prosecution.

Coup or Farmer's riot, either or both are badly needed.

Samak tossed himself into the hand of navy, air force but he was gently received and was nicely told " Please go back to your post Sir ".

He was ready to sit in the military costody.

It seems like, a rat tries to tease sleeping cat.

I think that people have to use their immagination. There will be the verdicts on the Rachadapisek case which, I think, is solid enough to be found guilty, this September. It is only three months away. Thaksin cannot appeal it, because it's a supreme court decision. Therefore, if the sentence is given without suspension, Thaksin have to go to jail. Can you emagine the sean that he just nods it and gives his hands to the court gurads to be handcuffed. I can't do it. If he is forced to chose two opptions. military coup or snaking out of this country, in which he has so many things to be left behind, can't he be adventourous enough to chose the first option? I think that the question is more of the capability to do so than the intention. PAD claim could be a ploy to attract more crowds by creating sense of argency among their supporters, but the story itself is plousible for me. (They withdrowed the coup theory last night, when they saw enough crowds gathering there)

So whatever PAD claims, the coup will always be an option until Septemeber. Don't forget the people in a political struggle not neccessarily act logically. Otherwise, there would be no falied coup in this world.

I've found that since Thaksin became the PM in 2001, most rumors turned to be true and most facts became anecdotes.

To impeach a judge,
PAD must pioneer the constitution if it allows to form the tribunal of judiciary impeachment.

Also PAD must study on the same on the minister of justice against his illegal appointment of the supreme prosecutors, who now try to delay the court filings of all Thaksin cases.

Now, the real coup is, DISSOLUTION of the PARLIAMENT.

PM Samak has no justification to dissolve it. It does not help him to run away from his malfeasances.
If he does, more judicial denouncements will be imposed to him and he will spend the rest of his life in cold jail.

He is now on the bridge-of-no-return. and if he has a slightest good will to the people to the kingdom, he must do something good and humbly wait for forgiveness.

Any possible efforts must be made as soon as possible to impose whole injunction on this criminal cabinet and usurp all the right of the premiership and the ministralship.

Now that, the deal, GIVE and TAKE secret transaction is nicely honoured by giving the Castle to Kampuchean side, Thailand must check bill what they earned in such give and take secret deal.

The Democrat and the senate must make parliamentary summon toward, EGAT governor, president of EGAT International Company Limited (incorporated to do Kokong electricity power generation construction), PTT plc and PTT group subsidiary firms of PTT- EP.
The parliaments must issue the warrant of seizure of all documents being owned by EGAT and PTT.

Please allwow me to write this commnet on your site, since The Nation usually ddes't allow readers to make comments on its main pages.

About the number of PAD protests, Main Stream Media including The Nation, usually under-evaluate them. PAD's overevaluation of the number is outrageous. It is also true. I know it since I am a reporter continuingly cover the demonstaration, but media's bias on the issue is also surprising. For example, regarding today's demonstration aginst the National Police, The Nation just wrote that several hundreds people marched to NP Headquarters. It may be true that, during the march, it could be hundreds but actually it grew it to thousands when they gathered in front of the police headquarters. From my news sense, thousands of crowds having gothered to protes police attitude is the news, not just handreds MARCHING . (I think nation will not report father about the demo since it became an old news now.) This type of attitude in the number of crowds is permiating through media reports on PAD's gathering. I guess they usually reports the number at 6 o'clock, before the peak of the crowds, which it usually reaches at 9 o'clock. It might be pertially because of the dealine, or reporters' tendency to want to go back home earlier, but I am sure that some intention from the editorial side are working here.

Another example. This is not about PAD, but general bias for opposition. Before the non-confidence debate, Surayut of Chnnel 3 read a newspaper article on an ABEC poll. The poll reserched the public opinion on the motion. Around 40 something percent said it's too early. 20 something percent said it's too late. More than 20 percent said the timing is suitable. His commnet after reading it is the majority think that the non-fonficence motion is too early!! I got dismayed. Actually the total of the percentage of "too late" and "suitable" is more than the percentage of " too early" I susupected Surayut did not use his brain when he's reading newspapers(it's his job) or some instruction comes from his sponser or the station who contracted him an air time. (He used to be a reporter of The Nation in political department)

These are small exmaples how the medias in Thailand are working. Do you think they have the right to accuse PAD by saying that we are responsible media so we should be carefull to report PAD's irresponsible claim? From my point of view, PAD at least try to give information which main stream medias don't dare to publish, and that's why they are worth to follow. And I think if media fullfil their duty fully, PDA would not have a big influence now.

This is a possiblity. The case against the Pochaman's tax evasion is too strong to be acquited even though she will have chances to reverse it if found guitly.
If it should be given a verdict not guitly, that's mean the rich and powerful in Thailand don't have to pay tax by producing any foolish excuses. Everyone says that it IS the reality in Thailand, but this time the court guarantee it in highly a pubicised case that all Thais are watching what kind of dicison the court will give to. So if the court save her in a suspicious way, PAD will organize so called " civil disobediance" movement, which I think would be successful, since the anger of Bangkokian who takes part in the protest is real, even though main streem medias usually derides them.

Given other cases against them also piling in the court, they might do something to avoid the worst.

PAD must disorganize themselves for time being, otherwise they will be used as a good pretext for the Rachini group of armed force that Thaksin's police carrier belongs to.

A general can sell his royalty at 10 m dollars.
However, they can not succeed due to the resistance of still-intact CNS royalist group (class 6). and more seriously the national resistance of citizens and Bangkok citizen will fight back with blood.

The marine and airforce gunships will attact the Rachini's mechanized troop (APC and Battle Tanks division) and Bangkok will turn into a abysmal mechanical war, that could be never won by Thaksin troop.
And they could never win the heart of citizen in aftermath of the victory if could.

This is cold reality story and all of generals must remember this.

The way things are proceeding at the moment it looks like a jail term for Thaksin.

Yoon,
I don't think this a rumour but a definite possibility !

Things might get nasty ?
