As a matter of fact, Lalida wins on this debate.

The longest comment was made by Lalida on C#78, at amazing 83 lines. However, this is disqualified because she quoted other blogger's comment, so naturally the comment got extra long.

However, even with the disqualification, Lalida still wins, because the second longest comment is C#78, at 54 lines, just ONE line longer than DKO's C#41, which was 53 lines.

Sorry Ian but for once I feel you are being very hypocritical.

You, as you have admitted many times, were openly engaged in a long verbal "off subject" warfare in many blogs with several individuals including Lalida. It did not matter whether others were enjoying it or were bothered or embarrassed or board or not whilst we searched for the on subject comments

Just because you after some time ( quite a long time) found the light and decided to disengage does not IMHO give you the right to then attack others for doing what you did and in MY case a tiny fraction (and without any bitching).

I have neither abused nor been personally insulting but I have made my objections known to what I consider totally inappropriate comments (you think some were in any way acceptable?? I am certain you did not!

Where best to comment than where the original comments were made (even if off subject)? If you do not like the "off subject" in your blogs then delete the offensive "off topic" comments then they are not seen and not responded to. As a Blogger I like you (I do not know you in person) but on occasions you do write as here if some of us are inferior children and have not grown up but daddy Ian is here to advise and guide us on a better path. That does not upset me but can be provocative to some.

When you suggest (be it in humorous irritation) “a Pox on all of you” actually means I respectfully ask you to look up Pox in Wikipedia. Of course you did not mean it seriously but – still not a nice phrase to use by any means. Not the type of phrases I ever use.

The elder sister of one of my wife's best friend is a police officer. I do not know how high he is in the police force ranking, but he seems to be quite an important fellow.

Dalmasian, Expresso, perhaps I'm getting old, perhaps I'm getting bored, perhaps I just have too many problems in my own village which the local authorities seem incapable of dealing with.
Whatever the reason I'm just pissed off with all this fighting going on, every single blog which has a political content and even a few without seems to have this battle going on.
Both of my last two blogs have turned into battlefields and once this happens the blog is dead to all normal purposes.
It seems that politics brings out the worse in everyone.
Now I am not in cahoots with anyone, Lalida is not my running partner nor DKO or anyone else. It is simply that at this moment and on these topics I happen to have similar views.
Note I do not share her views, they are my views, it just so happens that they seem to parallel her views.
You could just as well say Yoon and Piset work in partnership, again they have identical views. I cannot change my views just because you see them as supporting Lalida.
As to her behaviour at times, this I cannot support, but equally I see others behaving exactly the same way rather than ignoring her. To me it is no longer relevant as to who started it, rather it is who is keeping it going and even escalating it. Even newcomers have been dragged into the fight, whether they wished it or not.
You say leave these people alone, I wish I could, they disrupt my blogs and others that I wish to participate in. Even this current comment of mine is totally irrelevant to this blog.
Recently admin created a black hole, why can't everyone go and fight there?

So to summarise, I am not an important executive, nor do I mix in Hi-So society, nor do I have familiar relationships with politicians, generals and suchlike, I am just a moderately financially comfortable retired teacher and lecturer. But the one thing I do share with you all is a good education and a functioning brain, and yes I also have a sense of humour, howbeit a weird one. So talk to me by all means but be careful if you think you can talk down to me.

One must draw a line in the sand if one has a conviction. Wishy-washy thinking does not stand a chance in the world of business or politics. We take risks day in and day out. I am fully aware of the case between Dalmatian and Lalida. Dalmatian has always been anti-Thaksin and pro-PAD. Lalida jumped on him ridiculing what he is - a farang with a Thai wife. That shouldn't be a concern, should it? When Dalmatian stated clearly that he did not want to converse with her, she kept attacking Dalmatian for not man enough to face her. That's how it started.

As to Dalmasian and Lalida, it started way back, same with GG. Joining in on one side or the other just escalates things. I think to be a blogger one needs to be an extrovert and opinionated, both are characteristics that can lead to confrontations.
If other bloggers ignore the tantrums and keep out of it they eventually die a death. However, some bloggers, perhaps you are one, seem to like to stir things up and keep the pot boiling.

I seriously think you are being unfair. You had a run with Lalida. She then set up blogs to attack you. You then reciprocated. You know they do more harms than good. Beside, Lalida likes to delete comments even when people posted comments relevant to the topic. For example, in her blog "25bht..." GG posted, "You should blame your husband for buying the Bangkok Post. She deleted it and called him name and said GG was under her shoes. Where are you righteous referees?

Dave, there is a thing called etiquette, if I write a blog I expect people to try to stay on topic and not indulge in warfare with others. At the time when Lalida and I were going hammer and tongs, we realised this and each wrote blogs specifically aimed at the other. Lalida has started to do this, she has written a blog aimed at Dalmasian but I don't think he has responded.
There is no harm in people slagging each other off just don't do it in other people's blogs.

I 100% agree with you comment above, but I do not feel "firm and assertive" equates to bitchy snide and spiteful personal attacks upon another (even if in retaliation or perceived retaliation).

I like to think I am a better person than that.
If not reacting in the way you support makes me seem weak to others SO BE IT. I know differently.

It is often takes a stronger person NOT TO REACT and retaliate, than it does for "eye for an eye" retaliation.

Speaking for myself I personally do not wish to sink to levels I think unacceptable and that some others appear to be happy to go to.

I feel I am intelligent and articulate enough to make myself understood and address attackers (even abusive if necessary without using similar methods.

I am sorry but I am not anyone and anyone is not me. I have my principles and it does not matter whether they coincide with yours or anyone else's. When someone offends me, he or she must take responsibility for that offense. I said all hell will break loose and I mean it! I can be very mean when and if I want to, but I can also be very gentle and polite when the situation warrants gentleness and politeness.

Sometimes gentleness and politeness equates to weakness. Just yesterday I made a scene at an AIS establishment and shouted at the manager for making it so hard for me, a customer, to pay for their services. I simply refused to be pushed around by these people like the typical Thai person.

I had to teach her how to be a manager, how to act like the owner of the business, how bad the economy is and how hard it is to acquire customers and keep them, and put customers convenience first. I told her if she does not like my atitude then ask one of her Singaprean managers to come talk to me. In the end she realized that she was not acting correctly and provided the services that I came for.

The lesson is there are times when you have to be polite and there are times when you have to be firm and assertive.

If Thailand is a land that is rule by rules and regulations, then it would have kept its position far ahead of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore it had 50 years ago. I suppose the Web Editor hee have alraedy taken your comments into consideration and should be thinking about this at this moment. I agree that the attack on Lalida has gone too far and too personal, although, as you might know, I have not been in good term with this lady on this blog on most of the topics. However, to the opponents in this case, what you have witnessed was just a development from the past. You will also notice that those attackers you mentioned did make good contributions in other blogs and would engage in this kind of war of words only agains their old, long time rivals.

I am glad not to be part of that. For my blog articles, I have maintained a policy of deleting personal attack and irrelevant messages, to the level that have actually antagonized quite a few people.

Some of the same writers make valuable and interesting commentary on many Blogs so one cannot just ignore certain persons comments.

Additionally silence of the majority to not support what they believe in allows the unsavoury minority room to spout their hatred and spite.

I hate conflict but I stand up to be counted when my values say I should, even if it brings me under snide and personal attack.

I have said what I think of the comments I think totally unacceptable but you will note I have NOT been abusive back and I have not sunk to name calling and foul hate dialogue.

This site supposedly has a Policy. I did not make that policy but when I joined I was asked to accept it. All I ask is the the Policy I accepted is enforced by those that wrote it OR they should change it to Personal vile attacks (whatever the motive, reason or history will be tolerated on this Site).

I do not know nor care about the history for such attacks but it is HISTORY and I assume the Web Admin have banned or warned those who went too far in the past so WHY must the majority of us endure continued flame wars and personal wars being still waged.

These people should stick to PMs if they wish to verbally assassinate each other.

People do not have to write such commentary when they are very much opposed to another's views. There are way just as effective to disagree and make one point in a civilised manner.

I know sometimes sensitivities are triggered and sometimes people react incorrectly BUT what is going on here is very deliberate and very nasty and the perpetrators are deliberately doing their very best to provoke a retaliation so they can spout more hate and poison.

I do not understand what is happening here, most of the writers are farangs so they are spectators. They all come from working democracies and so should be able to comment impartially on events in Thailand.

Irrespective of Yoon's views and my trying to avoid being involved in a slanging match between two opposing views I feel that occasional debates and votes of no confidence debates" when things do not seem to be going too well are a positive thing PROVIDED they are not called every two minutes by the opposition and they are a valuable tool in any Country with a truly democratic parliamentary system.

I do not think such debates should be called just for the sake of scoring points off a Government having problems and I do not think it is necessarily fundamentally important whether the opposition can expect to have a chance in winning.

What I feel IS important is that when there is widespread concern on many issues in general and that a Government is significantly under performing then such a debate in valuable to all side including the Government.

My reasons are simple: The Thai people see the Opposition doing their job of holding the Government to account where they should In Parliamentary debate
AND
the Government are given the chance to answer the criticism (and seen to do so) in Parliament to their peers and for the Thai people to hear.

Is this not a good thing? All main issues get a hearing and the Government gets to hear what the opposition party(s) think and the Government having won the vote (as was certain from the beginning on this occasion) has a chance to evaluate all input and its previous performance in Government (and in the debate) and hopefully move forward more effectively.

The Number one important thing is that with such a debate being permitted, is that the Government showed it was willing to have this open debate and answer and listen to its critics. A good thing for Democracy in my opinion.

Now the debate has passed and all views have been aired and the vote taken I would expect a responsible opposition to not call another unless things were to become substantially worse and it was their REASONABLE duty to do so

To those who do not agree with "no confidence debates" may I suggest that without transparency and debate in Parliament where such matter SHOULD be aired between MPs then we are at risk of perpetuating or starting other less desirable options of rallies, PAD, counter rallies and what the media wish to support and influence.

I think there would have been nothing more the PAD would have liked than to have been able to accuse the PPP of blocking the debate and adding that as another reason to attack them.

Expresso, I will express this comment to you rather than others simply because what was a political issue has degenerated to a personal issue. If you have been a silent observer for any length of time you will know that Lalida and Dalmasian have personal issues between them which are unrelated to politics.

I am not a supporter of any political personage in Thailand, no one is 100% bad even Thaksin did some good. Everyone is trying to paint the picture in black and white, I reject this, I want to see all the shades of grey, Thailand has become polarised and so have the bloggers, this saddens me.

Khun Yoon is right on the money. Forget about the remarks here by L and Sulasno, two of Thugsin's paid lackeys. Their views are ALWAYS prjudiced and irresponsible for it is their job to spread false rumors and lies. Lies, lies and more lies everywhere. You can also forget about Ian's remarks. Somehow he has lost what little grey matter he ued to have in his little brain between his shuffling from the UK and Thailand or ice versa. As far as I am concerned he has been written off.

Samak and his stooges have been proven to be incompetent and useless in the week-long debates. If they were in private industry they would have been fired a long time ago. Imagine your company being "managed" by a group of unqualified and ncompetent nincompoops who are known to be puppets of a certain sinister individual (who was brazen enough last week or earlier to try to bribe Supreme Court judges using a snack box) and who have no other objectives than to loot and rob the company of it's assets and work for the benefit of their pupeteer? What would you have done if you were the owner.

In the case of the Thai govrnment and the country of Thailand, the "owner" are the Thai people. So I ask you, Thai people, what would you have done?

Quite contrary. I view this Censure debate and voting result as a positive result for the people of Thailand.

Having revealed the concrete evidences of wrong doing and incompetencies of the prime ministers and 7 of his cabinet members in details, the vote of the government's MPs for them shows indefensibly of their disregards of the interests of the nation and the people.

I am sure, this alone, should have turned the table of the government parties in some constituencies.

I have to say congratulation to the democrats for bringing up such a death and gone blow on this prime minister and the 7 cabinets.

Yes, this kind of public information and voters eduation must go on and on until we can right the wrongs.

I think Lalida, Sulasno, you are both wrong and right. It is ok for a political reporter to have a bias, in fact it is normal, as long as it is declared. In yoon's case it is very clearly declared so we can accept the bias.
Equally I agree he is a sore loser:-)
