Chinese ambassador Zhang Jiu Huan: "We should let the Burmese people decide their own fate..." US Ambassador Ralph Boyce: "...but if the Burmese people don't have the right to speak out, how can they decide their own fate?" This is but a small exchange in tonight's news show on Channel 9 on the Burma crisis. Don't miss tonight's "Cheepajonloke (World Beat) with Suthichai Yoon" on the ongoing Burma situation. With me and Veenarat in the programme will be a student leader, a Buddhist monk, a dissident politician, and a magazine editor, all Burmese. Ambassadors from China (Zhang Jiu Huan), Great Britain (Quinton Quayle) and the US (Ralph Boyce) will also be joining me in debating the consequences of the largest protest against the military leaders in 20 years -- and the subsequent brutal crackdown. |
