Winter and the mountain!

“I’m on bus now, tomorrow, sure we’re gonna rock the mountain!” talked to my friend on phone, and I opened my MP3 music player, enjoying my music and preparing to sleep on the air- conditioned bus-Muang Loei-Bangkok rout.

The next day, we were planning to go camping at Phurua national park, where now the weather is considered cold for Thais.  That night my friends already prepared camping things, checking car, packing camping fire set, food, snack, drink, tents and etc.  Only one thing to wait was me!  I was so much excited and hard to go sleep.

Phurua National Park located in the beautiful Loei Province of the northeastern Thailand. It’s one of the most splendid mountains, which is so called about trekking and camping in winter season.  Plus, Phurua (which means Boat Mountain in Thai) is among the famous flowers plantation areas, and in winter season the blossom becomes much more beautiful than others parts of year. And, superb thing is that we can drive to the mountain camping site, park car and trek.

The bus attendant woke me up and I was amazed!  I, umm actually the bus was surrounded by fog.  I could see blur scene of street tree and small house out side.

“Woo, I arrived Muang Loei already!” thinking out loud in my head, I smiled though felt tired as after 9 hours on the bus.  No commercial airplane rout to Loei Province, air- conditioned bus is only a choice. I had to wait my friend at the bus terminal around 20 minutes cuz it was so early morning, 6.15 am.  @_@

.

.

After showered, and kept all things on the truck, we were start drive to Phurua, which is only 47 kilometers from Loie’s Muang or around 9 hours drive from BKK. ^^

Girl Gang! ......haha  actually, there were six of us. (I am the far right, HI, you all^^)

.

The road from Muang to Phurua, not only beautiful, but the air was as clean as we didn't have to turn on car air condition.

.

But there were so many curves...have to be careful.

.

.

We stopped at PTT gas station, not to refill gas, but to buy snack more at Seven-11. I found Harley-Davidson, the gorgeous bike. I was owned by an old westurn man. He was driving to Phurua as well.^^

.

.

Blossom during the way...there were flower farm along road as well... we can buy it by lower price.

.

.

Before heading to the mountain, we had lunch at Phurua local market. It's simple but unique to me. The beautiful plastic plate of Phurua attractive places were interesting! No comercial...>*<

.

.

We strolled the market....so many hats...120 THB/ one.

.

.

About 3 meters from the market, we found sub road to the mountain..It's me and .....ummm  I think you know what it is...haha^^

.

.

The road leading the top of mountain was  steep, but nice scene, its along sides were cover by pine trees. OoO

.

.

Finally, we arrived the camping site! I felt so good. Fresh air,..fresh breath...wanna have a house there really..haha.

.

.

After parking, as time limited, we quickly started going Haui Pai (bammboo creek) water fall. I went there once 5 years ago. Missed it a lot! you know, we had to walk trough bamboo forest. All the area was covered by bamboo. It's unique...I like walking it.

.

.

Big tree...^^

.

.

Clear water of the creek during the way...wanna drink it really..^^

.

.

Finally, .....Haui Pai water fall!  Not much water than I thought....But it's ok. chill air was around. I sat on a rock and enjoyed nature surounding about 2 hours.

.

.

Popular spot...can't miss^^

.

.

During the way back, everybody got exuasted...you know, it was 2.5 kilometers from the mountain camping site. My legs were so hard to move .............T^T.....

.

.

During day, it's chill a bit....but after the sun went to rest...it was getting cold.. It was so hard to take a shower which was so cool! like it was from refrigerator!

.

.

Our tents!^^

.

.

Grilled and grilled....(those hats we bought from the market. It's so worthwhile..felt warm..have to have one when being on the moountain^^)

.

.

Morning!

.

.

Dok Bua Tong.......and my freind...^^

.

.

White Crismas....impressive...looking it, I'm so happy^^

.

.

One day and one night on the mountain was so peaceful and fun...I didn't want to come back here,BKK...but it's life...have to....but if i have a chance I won't hesitate to go a place like this again! you all too, especially Thai, it's winter, let's go out and touch the cold somewhere!

.

.

.

p.s. sorry for a long break....old freind do you remember me?^O^  and for bloggers that don't know my blog before...this blog is to say "Hi" to you all...gonna be nice to know you.......among the crisis of politic....best wish for Thailand and you all...

Pomjuk.....hahahah thanks for funny input!

ummmm.....how can I say the shorts are my favourit! I have to wear it in this special occation! hahahaha ok, the truth was the weather during day on the mountain was not so chill.....(it was a little bit) and the way through bamboo forest was not mad wild! The park officer had already paved the way long time ago.

It tunned cold at night.....you see that I chnaged my clothes, wearing jeans, thick jacket, hat (this kind,is it called hat?), and sure wearing thick socks..... ummm.....it's not perfectly warm...but i felt in sleep easily cuz I was so tired all day and over half night.....

I haven’t had a chance to go camping for a very long time. The last time I went camping I stayed at a campground with hot water facility; camping next to my sister’s rented log cabin. (She forgot her tent).

After that I invested over a thousand dollars on camping gears which had never been used, those included a very expensive extra light weight 2.5 lbs sierra tent and extra light weight extreme weather sleeping bags. They are still sitting somewhere in my basement unused. These bags keep you warm in the sub zero temperature. I’m pretty sure the blanket you had would not keep your feet warm even in the Thailand warm winter. Without proper gears; the feet get really cold at night.

I am very warm blooded, I mean I hardly ware an overcoat unless the temperature gets down to the low 20s but I can’t imagine anyone wearing shorts and slippers in the winter hear though.
