Earth cottage at Kaengkhro,Chaiyaphum

Krangkhro district, Chaiyaphum, one of an important area of I-san, where once I heard that there was earth cottage called in Thai “Baan Din”- the handmade house constructed by clay and reduce hot air of interior of the house, so that no need air conditioner, save energy and indirectly reduce global warming. So I was not hesitated when I had a chance to visit Kaengkhro, Chaiyaphum.  And after arrived there, I was fresh up. Kaengkroe and its mountain were beautiful. The cloud sky and green surrounding were the most pleaseful.

Before our destination, we went to Lampatao dam, where I had a delicious noodle for lunch. The dam was good source of electricity and traveling site, full of nice food, especially fresh fish from the river.

After that we went to Mo Hin Khao, which is called Thailand Stonehedge. I didn’t hope it was as beautiful as the original one. But someone said to me it was a scene of the famous movie, King Naresuan.

The point that the guy standing on was the same spot that, in the movie “Ong Dam, the little boy” occurring.  I can't remeber which episode of the film. But the film fan know it, I assumed.

Stone seemed outrageously  attractive in this site. The name of this spot below is Hin Khlong Chang (Elephant stone) as it looks like a herd of elephant.

The air was really cool. We enjoyed nice scene of nature for awhile before start the engine heading to our destination, earth house at Tambon Thamafai Hwan. The day was day off. We saw only the constructing clay house. Issara Sukhongkha-rattanakul was the expert of the house constructing there. He trains people to make earth cottage.

The bellow was clay source to make some blocks for the construction.

And handmade clay block arranged under the sun shine ready for use in the construction

A different style of the cottage which is not yet finished, Issara said it would ready to live in if he only place roof, door and windows.

The outrageous clay house below was Issara's clay home and office. He didn’t place window or doors even it frame.  He said the house surrounded with trees, fresh air flow would through his house and no need air conditioner. His neighborhood was out of thief (rural is better in some parts), so he didn’t need the door.

Earth cottage at Tambon Thamafaihwan,Kraeng khro district, Chaiyaphum was one of my impressive trips. If you want more information about kraeng khro tourist site and earth cottage  click http://www.ehotelbooking.com/Chaiyaphum/attractions.html

Hope it can cheer you all up. Have a nice day!

When I read and look at pictures in this blog, I feel very impressive that Thailand is full of forest and there are many interesting tourist attractions. Especially, Kaengkhro which is interesting site includes with dams, mountains, stone plains, and Earth cottages. I feel that it is original and appropriate for travelling. Its view is very beautiful on the top of mountain and stone plain. However, it may be boring for people who did not like to walk, but it is not problem for me. I think that it is very suitable for camping.
For Earth cottage or Baan-Din, I like it because it is very classic for me.I would like to occupy it. It would be very comfortable if I lived there. I think that I will search to build in my area. However, I am not sure about its solidity.

YEAH, Keangkeaw, I am absolutely agreed that this country is full of fantastic sites. I am just a kind of girl keen to learn and observe everywhere and started with my region, my home. (。・ω・)ノ゙I stayed in the Baan Din for only a half night. There is only one room for the owner. It was cool and enjoyable. (⌒∇⌒)♪, BTW, I like the flower picture you posted. It is bright and adorable. Thanks

Thanks also xyzz and Pat.
LLD, sounds fun!! nature is our real home. I think some people (Veen is one of them, surely^^) dream off the clay house and peaceful life like me. But it is dream. Complicated life in city is burning our time day by day anyhow.

Lalida, you said "I will...." which implied as promise. Don't forget!!!

4 years of my university life, I have surveyed (travelled) almost of I-san area. Loei (my homtown),Kalasin,Sisaket,Sakonnakorn,Surin,Chaiyaphum,Nakornpanom,Mokdaharn,Udon,Ubon,Khon Kaen,Nongbualamphu,Nongkhai, Korat, Burrum and....that all i can remeber. It doesn't matter that you, veen, cann't explore here. But this region is my home. I should know it in every inches ( my thought when I was freshy), so I jump for the chance as much as I can. But you must know our home better than me, right? weerayuth, I hope you get the chance. heheeh...I heard that office staffs rarely have time even for relax launch.

(I should say "P' Lalida, P'veen, P'weerayuth", but forgive me please. for some Thai people, I may look aggressive. But It is not my way here to be humble all time.)
