Burma Gen Than Shwe to be tried at Universal Criminal Tribunal

It has been 10 days by now since the deadly cyclone Nagris land fall in Burma southen Irrawaddy delta and Rangoon area.

I want to express heartfelt thank you on behalf of all Burmese people  to international community, world leaders ( except China and Russia) , people around the world  for their heart, their concerns, their smpathey and generosity to us in most needed time.

Our No1 Priority right now is still to save all traumatized starving strayed people in the disaster affected area before it is too late.

I do not know much about international politics and how our complicated world is working in this "civilized" 21st century. I only know how to love each other and how to live a valuable decent human life.

But i wish intertional community to take action on Burma General Than Shwe and his deputies to international criminal court in near future after our humaniterian mission in Burma is completed .

May be,it should be called Universal Criminal Tribunal. If we do not have one in this planet (btw, I couldn't find it on google) we should set it up soon.

Than Shwe and his deputies should be brought to that Universal Justice Court.

The charges for them would most likely be

1) Commiting the worst humaniterian crime ( the worst crime against humanity).

2) Humaniterian negligence and exteme cruelty by causing death or putting risk of death to millions of woman and children lives.

3) Massive voilations of basic human needs of survival in most critical times of one's life.

4) Denying to recognize existance of millions of human being lives.

5) Obstruction of international community's humananiterian relief and aid efforts.

6) Consistantly blocking international humniterian personals to do humane works in the times of life and death.

7) Repeated intimadting and threatening to international relief workers.

8) Attempting to steal international relief aid and funds to use other personal purpose.

9) Abusing power to act all of the above and acting aginst the will of all human faith.

The list  of charges to Than Shwe and his gang would be definitely longer if it happens in future.

i believe God ( of all faiths) is the only judge who will make the verdict in that universal criminal tribunal court for this case.

All my  tears, thought and prayers are with all the suffering people of burma as i am writing right now.

Perhaps so but I still hope and think someone/something can be done to these dictators, How can one let these creatures run around freely.....sad....If I only have the power..

No Lalida - I'm sorry you are not correct.

The junta WANTS to be isolated thats why the built a brand new capital city all to themselves and left Yangon to be taken over and restored (eventually by the Chinese). The regime have resources and money to Burn and they intend to keep it that way.
The more land that is devastated can be taken over, the more people who die are less of a problem......hard to believe in 2008 but its a fact.

Thats why sanctions don't work - sanctions only work if a country wants to be part of the world ( like South Aftrica) eventually. Burma's regime wants nothing less than to NOT be a part of the wprld, China, Russia, India and Thailand to a lesser extent supply them with all their needs.

The other thing people often discount is what happens after the regime is gone - what's the power game them between the ethnic minorities that fought the regime and the ones that signed a ceasefire?

In the UN China and Russia have power of veto and they veto just about everything, especially if they have a finger in the pie.

I understand what you're saying but shouting around the fence or understanding it is not going to help anything. If only one country will bring up the matter into the UN and I'm sure one way or another the others will join in and the Junta will definitely back off a bit and if the matter are debated, discussed and comes to a solution, I don't think China, Russia or any other communist can go against it. The majority always has the final word, right?

Khakaborazi - I understand your dream, I share it for Burma and hopefully I have contributed in some small way over the last 15 years. The Burmese peoiple have nothing - only dreams - but soon even those dreams will fade and the main players (we all know who) will be delighted to see the Burmese people in shreds. Burma is rich in resources, natural gas, timber, gems and even some oil, but not enought to attract USA. All these resources have already been promised to China and if you could just go and look around the country (its not easy to do) you will see Chinese electrical shops of all shapes and sizes everywhere and massive houses being built behind 12 metre high brick walls with razor wire on the top.....lots of people with money from somewhere.

The building of a brand new capital city Napidaw (simply meaning capital) has proved an enormous drain on any public resources. These kinds of wasteful projects, with continued economic mismanagement and debilitating western sanctions, have set the stage for a peculiary regressive political economy.

With the current boycotts and sanctions in place, Burma simply cannot compete wit China or Vietnam or many other neighbours in sectors such as textile production or tourism. So it turns to extractive industries and products, such as energy resources - where there is a high regional demand and a fairly direct link to the state treasury.

All the while people get poorer. A good many of them now living well below the poverty line. The health and education are disintegrating. For a while AID expanded, but the space for aid has diminished in recent years, as some on the outside oppose working in any way with government institutions (such as the health ministry) and the government itself grows increasingly suspicious that aid is only anadjunct of a broad regime change conspiracy.

The nightmare scenario for Burma is this: repression and outside condemnation, tighter sanctions, a political economy that benefits only a few, declining health and education and an impoverished population for whom 'democracy' can hardly be the only answer.

I agree Lalida,

Everybody in the West and most of the World know what Mugabe of Zimbabwe and the Junta in Myanmar are up to and yet the World lets the murdering thugs continue.

I would be interested in hearing from Piset what the Chinese are reporting about all this in China (since they are supporters of Myanmar I am interested if they are reporting the same as Thailand and most of the the rest of the World are.

Hopefully China will get involved in a positive way for the suffering and dying Myanmar people.

I see a report has suggesting that there are video evidence showing Thailand aid boxes are being over stamped with stamped as words to effect " a gift from the Junta to its people and naming key members of the junta"

If the videos and reports are true then this scumbag Junta need removing by the civilized World urgently as their slowness and such appalling hypocrisy and lies do not warrant any form of mercy (even from their few allies).

China wants the World to accept it is not as bad as the West and Tibet portray. Then let it prove it by applying massive pressure to the Junta to let the World help its people.

Without Russia and Chinas support this Junta will find survival very hard.

Any leadership who allow their people to suffer and die by neglect and favouritism do not deserve anything other than a Human Rights trial (Crimes against Humanity -to its own people).

If US can bring up a matter to UN to invade Iraq base on humanity reason, I don't see why other countries cannot bring in the same for Burma, I think Burma don't have enough resources for the other countries to be interested in or are they really afraid of China, Russia and India? I wonder what the debate will be like if the matter does brought up to the UN.

I need a good dream to relief my pain.
As long is military is in control, Burma will be the same. But i can't loose my hope and my way as you know.
Burma has been ruled by dictators one after another Nay Win, Sein Lwin, Saw Maung, and now Than Shwe.. every new dictator is getting worse than his predecessor.. It is like a evolution of dictatorship political culture in Burma. I have little doubt that most of new generals will be even more brutal than Than Shwe. Extreme poverty is key factor for military control mechanism to work in Burma.
Burma is moving backward evolution to stone age civilizations by all means .
I have no idea who is next after him and Maung Aye. But one thing for sure, there is always another brutal general to fill the blank seat within military in Burma.
So I do what I could. And, I just dream and pray.

I empathise/sympathise and every other ise with you, but you and I know it just will not happen.
You can't just walk into Burma (Napidaw) and whisk him away (well maybe Mossad could) to an international court any more than you can Mugabe et al they are sovereign nations 100% protected by a) China b) Russia and quickly bringing up the rear c) India.
Its a lovely dream, but remains so - and AFTER he's gone who do you think will want all the control then?
