This morning, while taking a shower to goto work, something made me think of old sayings that were in line with this: "There's no smoke without fire." And I was thinking, yeah... how can there be smoke when there's no fire? And while staring at my Korean face while brushing my teeth, I remembered a Korean proverbs, which carried a similar meaning, "How can there be smoke from the chimney, when there is no fire in the furnace?" Not that it meant anything in particular, but it was just a chain of thoughts I was having while showering and brushing my teeth. And when I was putting my clothes on, I remembered another one with the same theme, "How can a virgin get pregnant?" And then it hit me. Is it medically, scientifically, or even theoretically possible that a virgin woman will get pregnant? If she's a virgin, that means she had never had sexual intercourse with a man, therefore how can she get pregnant? I wasn't thinking of any virgin, but the most famous virgin of all, Virgin Mary. The Bible says she got preganant just like that, but is that even religiously possible??? Sometimes I like to think of biblical characters like Noah or Jesus as a real historic figure. A person who really existed in our past, not just a fictional character. May be what they did or how they did things were made up, but I like to believe that their existance was real. That they were real people, just like you or me. So, is it anyway possible that Mary got pregnant WHILE being a virgin? |
