Nigerian misconception about Chinese

Last night at the internet shop, a Nigerian dude asked me if I was Chinese, and although I said I wasn't, he continued to talk to me as if I was Chinese.

"Do China men have small penis? And is it true China man have sex amongst siblings?"

So I said,

"Do Nigerians have sex between sisters and brothers?"

and the guy waved his hands and shouted,

"NO! No way! We have tradition man!"

So I said,

"Chinese have tradition too."

And the Nigerian dude nodded as he had understood my point. And I continued,

"And about the size of their penis, I can't say. I've never seen a Chinese man's penis. Have you?"

It seems the Nigerians have real bad feelings towards Chinese. I really can't say why, because I can't go around asking them why they don't like Chinese, and even if I did, they won't tell me a straight answer.

But through conversation with people from a certain NGO I visited today, I get the feeling that they feel the Chinese are working the Nigerians like slaves.

But to me, that's just an excuse... I think they are jeolous that the Chinese come to their land and make so much money and prosper, while they are stuck in poverty. It is like that in any part of the world... (Indonesia comes to my mind...)

The Nigerians say,

"Chinese don't spend any money in Nigeria. They take everything back and spend it else where. That's why they don't contribute anything to Nigeria."

Well, if there was anything good in Nigeria, I'm sure even the stingy Chinese might spend some money, but there is nothing to buy in Nigeria...

Any way they put it, I think it's got more to do with inferiority complex, than any other excuse.

But who am I to say this or that? I've been here for what... 3 days? But there are things that you don't need to look far and long to understand. You know what they are?

Human Natures.

Nigerians, Chinese, Koreans, Thai... we are all humans.

Dalmasian - LOL You are bloody funny!....

GGrass - Tell the Negros to remove me from their mailing list too
I am enjoying your Nigerian trip too. Their views are eye-openers as I never understood them. I see lots of funny Africans over here too.

GGrass,

I just talked to my good friend Khun D***in at CP Head Office. He said CP will decline to go to Nigeria if those people insist on no photography by anyone.

Also, the only way that they can be interested is if they can bring their own 2000-strong "SWAT Team" PRC Armed Police Force with them and if they will be paid in high-grade Nigerian crude oil delivered to Bangkok.

All living expenses and other expenses for their experts, mercenaries, firearms and assault equipment and machines, aircrafts, etc. must be paid for 100% + tax by the Nigerians, in addition to whatever they will charge for their services and expertise.

GGrass,

As far as large-scale rice cultivation is concerned, you should ask your contacts there to try the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines (http://www.irri.com). This non-profit organization has developed many varieties of rice that are high-growth and pest-resistant. Some may be sutable for the local conditions in Nigeria.

CP will be of little use because they are not experts in rice growing. They have just announced a plan to go into large-scale rice cultivation, after all these years. Now that the price of rice has risen so much they can see the $ sign in front of their eyes.

GG
The vibe you've got there in 3 days is only on the surface and the aggravasion of disliking toward the Chinese by some group of local. Try talking to the goverment of Nigeria ,the Engey minister in particular. At the end We, Western oil companies are not too bad after all!!!

GGrass,

I did not believe you were actually going to visit the God-forsaken country of Nigeria. Please say hello to all my spammer friends there and tell them to delete my e-mail from their mailing list.

I think your initial assessment of the Nigerians' bad feelings towards the Chinese people may be erroneous. The real reason may be the fact that many of the Nigerian military's arms and military supplies are sourced from the PRC.

After the imposition of sanctions by many Western nations, Nigeria turned to the People's Republic of China, Russia, North Korea, and India for the purchase of military equipment and training.

The people who resent the Chinese may be those who are members of or symphatizers of the revolutionaries. You may want to contact Khun Piset to find out how much in the P. R. Chinese government's involvement in Nigeria at present.

Take care and come back to Thailand in one piece.

Yuri: I'm training my eyes to distinguish them without asking them... Not easy, but I think I can get it before I return.

Manhunt and Ian: I'm getting Nigerians' point of view on this matter... the spam mail... who's doing it... why are they doing it... how they do it...

But I can't just ask straight forward... I need to find the right time and right place... ask the right people... you never know what might happen if I ask the wrong (right?) person...

GGrass - Please tell them that millions of people who have emails hate Nigerians for sending scams all over the world. The Chinese don't do that. Heeeeeeeeeee!

Ask if they are Yoruba or Ebo? Christian or Muslim?
What tribe?
It makes a lot of difference.
