Old Traffort Stadium VS My hometown golf course

Old Traffort Stadium accomodates over 70,000 people for a match of football.

My local golf course accomodates at most 250 golfers on a busy day.

That's 70,000 : 250.

Old Traffort Stadium outnumbers my local golf course by 280 to 1.

For every ONE golfer in my local golf course, there are 280 people in Old Traffort Stadium, watching a match of football.

But if you look at how many people are actually playing the game, my local golf course outnumbers Olf Traffort Stadium by 11.36 to 1.

While there are 250 people playing golf in my local golf course, there are only 22 people playing football in Old Traffort Stadium.

That is why, GOLF is the greatest sport in the world, even before FOOTBALL.

If you are not playing golf, then you are not one of the 250 people who are happy (at least while they're playing...).

You are one of the 70,000 - 22 people who are watching the others play.

So pick up your clubs and head to the nearest driving range! It is never too late to start, but it's going to be too late if you don't start!

I am thinking about converting to 'Golf writer'.

I will write about Golf and all its glory. And pain.

But first, I need an inspiration... which hopefully will come in a form of new Driver.

R5, custom made shaft and grip, about 2 years old, wasn't used much, coz the owner has like 10 drivers in his collection, and he's selling it to me for 3500! It's a rip off, I know!

I'm meeting him at the driving range today at lunch. I'll try hitting a few balls, and if I like it, I'll buy it...

And if I buy it, you guys will definitely hear about it.

The fact that there may be more people playing football than golf only means just that, and that I was wrong about the numbers.

And the fact that I shouldn't compare pros with amatuers only proves that I'm stupid.

In any case, the fact remains, that GOLF is the greatest sports in the world.

Well, at least in MY world it is.

GG, I guess I'm a happy person with bigger balls Er...I mean tennis and bowling.
As for golf

I think you'd be happier in some places like Houston, Texas. My cousin loves playing golf and according to him, the proportion of people per golf course is like 4:1. You'd better check it out.

GG, you are presenting the wrong situation, professional versus amateur. In many local amateur wekend football games there are more players than spectators. Equally at a pro golf tournament there are hundreds of spectators.

GG, your figures about participation in football versus golf may be true if you compare one venue with one other, but worldwide many more people play football than golf.

Having said that, I agree about it never being too late. I started 9 years ago, when I was in my mid 30s and I am still improving, although my progress has been a bit inconsistent. There are so many things I like about golf. The walk around a beautifully maintained park, the competition and camaraderie, the personal challenge, the sense of achievement.
