Well said Tulsathit Taptim: PAD are Terrorists.

The Nation's Tulsathit Taptim is to be commended for his lucid analysis of the PAD's move from crime bordering on sedition to out and out terrorism. Even if the goal were good, the act is inexcusable. Terrorism is still terrorism.  There is not and cannot be any excuse for holding literally thousands of people hostage to achieve a political goal that is in itself wrong.

There can no longer be any excuse for supporting the PAD.

Mr. Taptim's commentary,  "From Skywalker to Darth Vader" , published 2008, November 26 is at http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2008/11/26/headlines/headlines_30089472.php

Max, remove the religious content and there is much of value in the words and ideas of the old patriarchs, they were closer to the earth and the people than modern politicians.

Thanks Ian , I am at times straying off into older scriptures though not a Christian I think some of the metaphors and parables are just to be good as not to be used. Then I often forget to explain what I mean. Thank you for the link.

And sometimes he gives me pause to reconsider my own views.
It happened that I agree strongly with Tulsathip's commentary today, and it makes such a refreshing change to see such an unequivocal condemnation of teh PAD in the Thai press, based on sound reasons, that I thought it deserved to be noted.

I've been reading Tulsathip's articles for some years. I don't always agree with him, but he does make an effort to present a reasoned case for whatever he says. And even if I disagree, I can at least see where and why; I also get the impression that he is open to reason and if presented with a strong argument will change or modify his views.

AM-FM. Perhaps he has his road to Damascus moment, as Max said, "From Saulus to Paulus", perhaps you did not understand the reference.

Somchai's Achilles heel has always been that he has had to operate from Bangkok, the stronghold of the PAD. By moving to Chiang Mai he becomes immune to their pressure. All the PAD can do now is continue to punish Thailand.

From Saulus to Paulus Max says, Khun Tulsathit has made the right step amidst many colleagues that still don't want to believe that the PAD really is doing what we see on TV.

Khun Tulsathit will get a beer from Max

"Sticks and stones can break my bones but names can never harm me."

Does it really matter what they are called?

What ever it is, it has not yet motivated anyone to do something about them.

If Somchai cracks down he might lose the chance to rewrite the charter, so he can't move, the army can't because they, well because, they are already involved?

In the mean time PAD runs rampant through the city.

Somchai has an opportunity to stand alone and be the man, but will he do it?

Let the rule of law take its course ... just as the PAD have always insisted it must.

None may escape justice.
