When will it ever end?

I see that the Nation and other media are continuing their policy of compliantly condoning the suppression of free speech and the active fostering of ignorance on matters of serious public and political concern.

It's sad, but understandable. If no one who could make a difference will ever take a stand, how can those same people, in all conscience, then complain about the ongoing malaise to which their refusal to act is so strong an endorsement? Perhaps it is time to replace the opinion pages with recipes. At least that might appease the current PM without upsetting anyone else too much.

It is sad for Thailand. Whilst ignorance is so rigorously enforced, how can things possibly improve?

Is this latest manifestation a further sign that Yuri's prediction for Thailand is just around the corner?

"The Nation deleted its vodcast of Jakrapob's speech at the Foreign Correspondents club."

Jak's speeches have two.

One is the speech over past foreign journo news release. He wanted it on hold, until official translation is released. Now of this time, Thai journo and the democrats temporarily honour his right (of protection). He now accuses a wife of high ranking militaryman to spread the wrong version.
The ball is at his hand, but not long, just for couple of days left.

The Democrat made their own translated version already and now hold for time being.

The contents are too sensitive to shake the root of the political ideology and system and all concerned are very much scrupulous to publicise it.

Another development is of Gen.Chavalit, who was once accused of 'presidium', a copy version of USSR or PRC's politburou system. Later he blatantly denied it.

The real picture of today Thailand is the emergence of real extremists of right wingers.

Whatsoever happen, Thailand can not achieve present level of democracy, Thai people must know this.

"I don't anyone wants to be caught on the pointy end of Lese Majeste laws."

You are reading pretty behind.
This is not the point today.

Are you talking about the "outspoken" opinion piece?

I'm a bit in the dark (Religion thinks so too).

I don't anyone wants to be caught on the pointy end of Lese Majeste laws. They way the law is used for political ends, I wonder if it is achieving it's real objective.

I wish to apologise to the Nation for suggesting that they are "compliantly condoning the suppression of free speech." Having just read todays craven editorial, it is clear that the Nation is not being compliant so much as taking an active role in persecuting the agenda of ignorance and violation of this human rights that is basic to any healthy democracy.
I assume they will now cease and desist from their persistent pretence of wishing for anything like a healthy democracy in Thailand and return to the good old days of 18 months ago when they also categorically endorsed an armed coup as being preferable to democratic process.
Shame. Shame. Shame.

I'm assuming you are both refering to something about Jakrapob? Or the announcement of the blockade of several websites by the IT ministry?

I read a rather lengthy internal report from one of the biggest media houses in northern europe.

It explores the possibilities for the media house to run a tabliod style newspaper in south east/east asia.
Among the countries that are dismissed is Singapore because their censorship is contradictory to the tradition of the company.
Thailand is listed as the most attractive choice.

The report reasons that the censorship applied here is restricted only to those issues that would reflect negatively on the monarchy.
I guess they misjudged the extent to which such claims were made.

I noticed that the Nation censored itself today, it deleted one of its vodcasts:-)
I read it before it was deleted, and it vanished as I was about to comment.
