Attention admin., More plagiarism: Jomthap is a thief

The Blog "Euthanasia: The Ethics of Assisted Suicide" by Jomthap is stolen from the BBC website article "The ethics of assisted suicide".

Not content with stealing, Jomthap has also elected to hide comments, which suggests that he is well aware that what he has done is wrong.

Jomthap is a thief and a coward.

However, since he might have been a new blogger and not the infamous Jerrie under a new alias, I posted a couple of mild requests suggesting that he delete his plagiarised post, and perhaps share his own ideas on what is after all an interesting topic; Sokol's article does raise many points what are worth discussing.

Jomphat chose to ignore my suggestions, so I'm posting this to alert the web editor to this new illegal use of the Nation's Blog space.

I agree that if you post a link to a video that you did not make, or the full video, you must cite the source. Not to do so is theft.
I also agree that it is at best silly to post someone else's video and not make any comment on it. Why on earth are you posting it on a Blog site for discussion if you don't have anything to say about it? At least say why you've posted it, and why you think others might find it worth watching.

That someone else has said something better than you could hope to say it might be a good reason to tell others where to find it and to post a link to it, with a comment as to why you like it so much. It is never a good reason to steal someone else's words, and it's unlikely to be a good reason for posting an entire lengthy article: the link is enough; those interested can read the full article if they choose to.

Sometimes people would like to say something, but can't quite put it into words. They then find an article which matches their thoughts and they paste it, which is OK by me. However, I agree with both Ian and ITY on how to reference the article, but I can't understand why the comments should be hidden.
I think it started some time ago when The Nation staff were cut and pasting articles like there was no tomorrow and most of them wouldn't put any follow up comments or were scared to. It still happens but with technology its just a video that wasn't actually taken by the poster, with no follow up comments.
Isn't posting someone elses video quite similar to posting an article?

In commenting to PJ C4, I personally feel it's ok as long as you leave the comment visible and open for discussion and join in as well, That only show you have interest in that particular article and wants to share with other together with your own opinion.

But with such a way of hiding the comments as well. I don't supported.

Perhaps the only way to get the admin's attention is to write a blog, it worked for you and Lalida
However, the admin has yet to justify the other question which theses plagiarists have raised, namely why can/should comments be hidden?

I think it's perfectly OK to comment on an article you have read elsewhere, and which you thought might interest fellow bloggers here. I've done that a couple of times, and regularly do it at work. My usual, and preferred, practice is to quote as little as possible, but to include a link to as well as citation for the source. This is standard academic practice.

My tolerance for plagiarising an entire article with no acknowledgement of the real author at all is exactly zero. It's one of the few things that can provoke me into making a deliberate personal attack.

ITY, in this situation I copy and paste a particularly interesting paragraph and then give a link to the full article, rather like the blurb inside the jacket of a book.

Well done Felix for rooting out plaJerryists!

I personally find the tendency to post other people's work in their own name most irritating.

But I wonder if there might be a middle way. Perhaps if a blogger wants to post an article from a different source that is of particular interest to them, they could do so with a preamble to their blog along the lines of 'This is a very interesting article which I read on the xxxx web-site. What do other bloggers think?'

What say you (and others including the Web Editor)?
