Suggestion to Admin: Disallow hiding comments.

This is a boring and trivial post. It is just to let me vent my feelings and make a personal attack on the cowardly thief who goes by the name of "Jerrie".

Jerrie is a thief. He copies and pastes other people's ideas into his posts. Some are half sensible, like his latest, others are perfectly idiotic (the Osho bilge). He never acknowledges his stealing. Is he also idiotic enough to think that anyone believes he actually writes what he posts or that he has a thought of his own?

Having posted someone else's ideas, he hides the comments. He doesn't have the guts to defend what he has stolen! Jerrie is also a coward.

Since he clearly has no interest whatever in posting his own ideas, or of entering into any sort of discussion, I don't think Jerrie should even be here, but since he wants to share other people's ideas, he might at least allow the comments of other Bloggers to be seen.

I suggest that Admin. remove the option of hiding comments. (But leave the option of deleting, for which there can be good reasons.) If Jerrie is so upset that others might be interested in a discussion, let him take his thieving and cowardice elsewhere.

My apologies to anyone who might have found this offensive, except Jerrie, to whom I have no wish to make any aplogy at this time.

That does feel better.

And a Merry Christmas to everyone, even Jerrie.

Jerrie,
Does that mean you concede that you have plagiarised? That is, do you admit that you have stolen and used other people's words without acknowledging your source? Good. That's a start.
Manpower, in his comment 15, says that 50% of Bloggers do the same thing, but that is not true. Some bloggers do steal the ideas of others to boost their own feeble intellects, but it's more like 5% than 50%. However, the actual number is irrelevant: it is a dishonest and shameful theft, however many others might be doing it.

If you think you are innocent, could you answer these two questions:
1. Why didn't you credit the sources you copied from?
2. Why have you hidden the comments on your posts?

The law, as the Nation now realises, sees your behaviour as theft. Ordinary people, as you can see not only from here, but also TomFin's Blog about you, consider your behaviour to be stealing. Universities certainly consider such reckless abuse of a source as plagiarism.

If you don't want to delete all your stolen posts, I suggest you at least show that you have the decency and honesty to go through and add the source for each of them. In his Blog, TomFin has kindly listed many of the sources you stole from.

And turn on the comments again.

Jerrie, no offence but I don't know how you can fight against proves, If it's only an accusation. I see you have every logic to fight against it. But evidence Why not just give up and delete your blogs and start new again in 2051 with your own writtings. Isn't it more simple?

Okay Felix!!! I may respect in your thinking and understand your feeling. I don't have to defend anymore in what you asked me. As a result, my job here is not arguing or defending. I have any more opportunities in my life and would appreciate on your providing one. However, you don't have to pull back the the charge of cowardice as you said. I myself know that I am not. The one who says the word would actually know who is the cowardice. As I said, I haven't felt of lose face in what you accused because I am not the things that you accused me. You must transform yourself before advise the others. What's more, I have already stated my ideology on the last comment and standfirm on my job in what I am doing in my blog. If you felt so mean in my behaviour, you wouldn't better visit my blog in the future. Is it fair?

Filex, you are correct.

A link to the article would be fine. Without attribution, Jerrie is plagiarizing. Period.

Also, why post lengthy articles of dubious interest? What is the reason? Why would you not want to give credit to an author that wrote something you admire or agree with?

I do believe, although not an expert, that even in a blog the laws of plagiarism apply. But, even if not, it is obvious to the most obtuse reader that Jerrie wanted to take credit for articles that he is intellectually incapable of writing and, I believe, understanding.

Jerrie, Jerrie, Jerrie,
No, you are a thief. You stole the articles.
The normal and expected way of not stealing other people's ideas and words is to cite the source. On a Blog, "posted by" means that the poster wrote or created whatever is posted, unless they state otherwise, not to do so is plagiarism. That means you clearly state where you got the ideas and words. If, as you say, you "also know the rule of plagiarism" then you will be well aware of that. You have not persuaded me to retract the charge that you are a thief. If you do not feel any loss of face over this, so much the worse.

But now that you have actually made an effort respond and enter into a discussion, perhaps we can make some progress.
I have a question or two:
1. Why post something if you don't want comments on it?
2. When people are critical, why not defend your position, or simply admit that something may not be such a good idea after all?
3. If you must make extensive use of other people's ideas, why not at least say what you think of them? Perhaps you could say why you think they might be of interest to the other bloggers here? Were your excuse for plagiarising true, I would at least expect you to say something like: "I found this great article on ... " And a link would be enough - those who were interested could read it in the original source.

Thanks for the response.
If you continue to defend yourself, and lift the block on viewing comments, I will retract the charge of cowardice.
I can't retract the charge of plagiarism, but I'm perfectly happy to give you another chance. New Year is coming up; it's a good time for resolutions.

Tom, I simply meant he did no harm to me, if he harms the Nation that is a different matter. I think there are different rules for blogs but I'm sure the Nation has a well clued up legal department

Felix!!! I would say that I haven't stolen the article from anybody. I accept that I haven't written all the articles I posted. However, the blog has represented "posted by" not "written by", so I can post the article from any sources that would benefit to readers. My job is stucking with informative research, so if I found some article may benefit to reader's ideology, I would not hesitate posting its. Hopefully, you will understand. I haven't felt of lose face. I also know the rule of plagiarism respectively. I always realise those articles are not my own, so no reason that I have to fear.

I disagree that he does no harm. It is lifting entire articles and claiming credit.

I have just posted some of the links to these articles and requested that this blog remove the articles.

I also sympathize with your sentiments on this one Felix.

I personally find it very irritating when people cut and paste the work of others, although with time I am learning to ignore it. However, it is doubly objectionable for a blogger to cut and paste and then prevent other bloggers from commenting on their flagrant plagiarism.

I recall once seeing a very amusing riposte from Narcisuss to a Jerrie paste blog and chuckling to myself. Jerrie must feel that if he allows people to frag him every time he cuts and pastes (which is pretty much every time that he blogs) then he will quickly lose heart and give up for fear of continued loss of face. On which basis, I hope your suggestion to prevent the hiding of comments is taken up.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments Felix, I feel he does no harm, I supect most of the comments he gets are rather scathing so he would want to hide them, perhaps he simply does not know how to delete:-)
I just treat him as another RSS feed, sometimes informative, sometimes not:-)

I second that. What is the point in hiding comments? If anybody whould have something really personal to say I'd like to think that they would do so my message rather then comment to a blog
